A senior Democratic lawmaker has suggested fines of $25,000 a day for contempt on U.S. officials who stonewall congressional investigations of President Donald Trump and his administration.Expanding on an idea floated days ago by Democrats as a way of putting some teeth into various inquiries of Trump, his turbulent presidency, his family and his business interests, Representative Adam Schiff spoke in two interviews about reviving the “inherent contempt” power of Congress. “We would levy fines on those who are not cooperating,” Schiff, the chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee told Axios in an interview published on Friday.

It’s way past time for the details of all those Congressional sexual harassment cases that were settled with taxpayer dollars to be made public.

After that a thorough audit of anyone in Congress whose net worth has increased by more than ten times the salary they’ve been paid while in office would be in order.

We really, really need to give back the power to We the People.

This circus is not only wrong, but embarrassing as well.

Hey Shift for brains, let me check on Article One for where that power is located.

Hum, search as I might, I cannot find it. Shift for brains is overlooking the fact the matter would be referred to the Executive Branch to pursue before the Courts.

It is not Inherent Contempt of Congress

It is Inherent Contempt of Democratic Congressmen.

I like the term Clown Car. It fits them well.

You can suggest all you want, but until the laws are changed, you're not imposing any penalty.

The Dims have to take their contempt case to court for any punishment to be imposed, which currently maxes out at up to 1 year in jail and a fine of $1,000.

Way past time is an understatement...

Need to start one of those petitions—I think there would be bipartisan support for your suggestions!

If the SocDems manage to force the Trump officials to testify then Trump needs to take a page out of Hussein’s book and name “czars” to run all the departments because the Dems mean to make it impossible for the Departments to conduct business by tying up interminably all the heads of departments.

What is going to get interesting is when the various
coup plotters are brought to appear, Schifforbrains
will be singing an entirely different tune.

All these statements the Rats are making are going to
come around and bite them on the a**.

I live for the day I see some of them coming out of
the hearings with handcuffs on.

We must put fear in the hearts of the weak minions,
then we’ll get some real intel.

I can’t believe Democratic voters can watch what the House is doing, not working to better the American people, but continuing to create a Constitutional crisis in an effort to try to destroy Pres. Trump’s agenda. Why would they continue to support a party like that?

Why would they continue to support a party like that?

30-40% of the legal voters will believe what ever they're told to believe. Likely even a higher percentage of the illegal voters.

Boy, I must have been asleep in the class where they talked about Congress’s Constitutional ability to levy fines directly against private citizens.
