Sometime over the weekend, anonymous vandals stuck a garden hose through the front-door mail slot of lawyer Sean Riddell’s Northeast Portland office and left the water running.
Someone who works in the office -- a house converted into business space -- discovered the mess about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Among Riddell’s work for the ICE employees’ union, he asked Oregon and federal officials last October to investigate Mayor Ted Wheeler for directing Portland police officers not to respond to some calls for service at a protest outside the Southwest Macadam ICE field office.
What a nasty piece of work. I hope they catch whoever did this.
Hope they find video, catch the culprit(s), convict, fine, and jail them for a very long time. This type of terrorism needs to be stomped.

Portland has some of the most vile “people” in the country.
I hope the Portland police catch the individual or those individuals who committed this act of vandalism.
I hope the DA prosecutes those responsible, the jury convicts them and the judge sentences them to the maximum sentence allowed by law.
I also hope the insurance company sues each of those individuals for the damage they caused and wins the case which pretty much will cause the individuals a lot of, what did they say in their email to the media?, maximum economic damage to each of them.
And I hope it is ICE who identifies the vandals from video tapes of other anarchist events in PoPo-rtland and convinces the US Attorney to go after each of them for any federal crimes they may have committed.
We’re going to see a lot more of this type thing.
I am not very forgiving of this. We had a water leak from the ice maker water hose on fridge and it ran across the room and ruin, just like the picture, over 30 square feet of hardwood floor.
This is a common tactic employed by animal rights activists at homes of researchers and other persons involved in animal testing. Break a lower level window, feed in the homeowner’s hose and turn on the water. Not necessarily the perpetrators in this case but these groups are all fellow travelers and share information on tactics and techniques.
Horrible. Deliberate destruction of some else’s property.
Quite illustrative of the infantile mindset of such morons. I guess the ICE attorneys will find a more secure way to collect their mail.
I saw a weekend binge of the Mod Squad on “Decades” a month or two ago.

Many years ago we heard that neighborhood kids would prank people by turning on their outside faucet and just letting the water run. But there are also cases we know where people have had pipe ruptures or hose ruptures on their washing machines and had the same thing happen.
It would make for a very high water bill aside from any damage done.
So we developed the habit of turning off the water whenever we go away for even overnight.
We also turn off the hot water tank as if that goes dry for some reason, like a leak, and tries to turn on, it can cause a fire.
