A 13-year-old and a 17-year-old are facing charges after police said a group of teens stole electric scooters at gunpoint near a busy Midtown intersection Tuesday afternoon.
A member of the Lime operations team told police he was staging the scooters for use on West Peachtree Street near the North Avenue MARTA station when he was approached by three teenagers about 3:30 p.m. They offered to pay the man if he activated the scooters for them, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty told AJC.com.
“The victim refused and at that time the suspects presented a handgun,” Daugherty said in a statement. “The victim advised that he then complied with the demand and activated scooters for the suspects.”
The teens rode away, but officers were later able to track down two of them using the scooters’ GPS technology.
Police arrested the 13-year-old and 17-year-old Marquaevious Miller, who is from Atlanta, on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Miller was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Wednesday and his bond was denied. He is next scheduled to appear in court May 2.
The third teen is still at large.

I still want a law where it would not be possible to try a person with an idiotic name born after the laws enactment for murdering their parents, “idiotic” to be decided by a grand jury of peers. That would put a quick end to this.
