...Corporate agriculture is often an overlooked issue for those appealing to the Democratic party base. But in North Carolina, both a Super Tuesday presidential primary and general election swing state, candidates’ positions on factory farms will matter. And while factory farms affect North Carolinians of all races, people of color are 1.5 times as likely to live within three miles of a factory farm...

ever wonder why 'factory farming' became an overnight issue?

I get the point of pollution control for farms, but the entire article is about pigs. Yes, pigs. And racist pigs at that.

There are 7.7 billion mouths to feed on earth. Food needs to be produced on a massive scale.

What is the alternative to 'factory farms'? Soylent Green?

Follow the moolah.

“ever wonder why ‘factory farming’ became an overnight issue? “

A man I knew once worked for a big meat company, I think it was Lykes Brothers. They harvested 12 million chickens per day. Just think where a world of six or seven billion people would be if every chicken was “free range.” Think of where we would be without huge factory farms. Billions of people can not live in the woods in a “self-sustaining” hippy commune. You want an apocalypse? Just legislate away those factory farms.

and dogs. We were informed today by those superior to we lowly Americans that dogs are racist, too. (I did wonder if that included chi-wawas)

Illegal aliens are 10 times as likely to work at a factory farm

If they were willing to get a biomass digester they could make enough propane to power their own operation and sell the surplus.

Gruel is a food consisting of some type of cereal—oat, wheat or rye flour, or rice. You need big machines and lots of fertilizer to harvest massive quantities of the ingredients.

So, yeah, no gruel for me or you. Soylent green is the answer.

A lot of these farms use the manure to fertilize fields where they grow the food for the animals.

There used to be some hog farms that were two story. Feed hogs corn on the top floor and the hogs below ate the manure from the top floor. FDA changed regulations and made the practice illegal.

Sure they are. They all live in the wide open country, right beside these farms. Uh huh. What is that warm rain on my back?

China is also currently proving how vulnerable backyard hog farms are to disease. African swine fever has probably killed 75 million of its 430 million hogs on farms early last year. A MASSIVE hog and pork shortage is coming over there. “Factory” farms where the hogs are kept isolated and, at least to some extent, more secure than those raised outdoors, are much more efficient and generally better able to deal with epidemic diseases.

That’s it. Ban all farms. Let the sheeple graze in their own backyards.

Reminds me of the Vietnamese genius in Saigon who got the garbage removal contract for NCO and O Clubs at Ton San Nhut Airbase. He hauled the garbage to his pig farm which was next to his fish ponds which got the pig manure. He made a fortune selling pork and fish to the clubs. closed cycle money machine!!
