On December 5, 1931, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow was destroyed by the Bolsheviks. It was built more than half a century after Russia's 1812 victory over the French, and was in use for about the same length of time. Under the Soviets, this cathedral, Russia's largest, was destroyed in just one day. In its place, they planned to build a Palace of Soviets. After the Second World War, they built an outdoor swimming pool on the site of the cathedral. Donations funded its rebuilding in the late 20th century. See also:

Cathedral of Notre Dame is far older, and Russia still has a long way to go spiritually, but something about rebuilding what was lost can have a healthy impact on the society at large. Let’s hope the same for France!

I happened to catch CNN and they were saying that although the cause of the fire is not known yet, officials are saying it isn’t terrorism. Hard to believe they would make such a stupid statement unless it’s more of CNN’s fake news or they are frantic to cover up for their beloved Muslim terrorists.
