It takes about three days for autolysis (autophagy) to begin. Even a day of fasting has benefit in resting the digestive system, but it will not trigger autolysis.
I have fasted 3-11 days many times, with great benefit. After the third day, hunger pangs, which are habit, decline.
Using a drug to mimic the effect may produce some benefit(s), but it cannot exactly take the place of proper fasting and cleansing, anymore than taking a drug can exactly reproduce the effects of activity/exercise.
On my 50th birthday one of my friends said something like - you don’t look any older than when we first met 15 years ago. I guess that’s one of the benefits of having gray hair so young!
My dad had gray hair at a young age too.
I now have pure white hair, and a thick full head of hair too - like my old man. I’d rather have that than to be bald!
I was reading about the Sermon on the Mount. The entire sermon has a pattern to it (called a Chiasm) that is used in poetry, etc. that leads to the main point being in the middle of the poem, book, sermon, etc.
The main point of the Sermon on the Mount is prayer - the Lord’s Prayer. On either side of prayer is giving alms (tithing) and fasting. And as with most things in the Bible - it has both a spiritual and natural purpose.
I need to look into fasting - the good health benefits - and it is right up there in spiritual importance too!
My thoughts too - must be a par 3 course and have holes 20’ across....
I have pop-up blockers..................
Its easy for me to fast for 36-40 hours. I can induce keytones —& the sharpness that comes with it—with MCT oil & grass fed butter mixed with coffee.
Three days. Sheesh.
My wife at age 67 looks just like when I married her, in 1975. Could be my eyesight, though.
