The EU Just Destroyed the Internet
Computing Forever ^ | 3/26/2019 | Dave Cullen

The EU Just Destroyed The Internet by passing legislation that makes it a crime to utilize anything that could be considered copyrighted material unless you pay a fee for usage.

Listen to the video, it'll explain it a lot better than I can. Post your thoughts below and whether you believe it will come to the USA.

The law requires Google and other websites with more than *five million unique monthly visitors * to make their “best effort” to receive authorization from the owner of copyrighted content, or take steps to keep the material from being shared on its sites altogether.

Seems a little over-reaching there. I think 10 million would limit the costs to those who can afford it.

It’s about control.

Globalist Media cannot survive with freedom of speech. So they outlaw dissent by tech means.

“I doubt they are going to be able to enforce it.”

This creates a pretext for the EU to wall off Europeans from the rest of the world to prevent dangerous thoughts about freedom and liberty from reaching those same Europeans.

“I believe that this will hasten Brexit, and encourage Eastern Europe to leave.”

This was designed to take away the power of the people that caused the vote to brexit. The powers don’t want that ever happening again. Knowledge is power only if you can share it. If there is any site like FR anywhere in the EU then they are about to go offline.

Eastern Europe lived under communism for decades, and learned to communicate with one another under those harsh conditions.

This might help hold France and the Netherlands, but it will have quite the opposite effect in the East.

The result will be fewer people will share articles and the creator ends up worse off.

Exactly.

Try turninig off "Retweet" and "Like."

See how THAT works out...

The story just got even stupider.

Allegedly a bunch of Swedish leftists pressed the wrong button on the vote, and their choice was decisive.

Tell the EUSSR to get their own internet.

Eurotrash were okay with violating US copyright and ignoring extensions until their own precious Beatles and Cliff Richard were about to lapse into the public domain.

Euroweenies also subject the public to Islamic blasphemy laws.

WE have a freedom of speech here and a time limited copyright and patent law.

I doubt they are going to be able to enforce it.

"Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against - then you'll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We're after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now, that's the system, Mr. Rearden, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."
