I can’t give you the full story; but YT content providers who can drag significant nos of viewers and subscribers to their videos *can* earn money, sometimes nontrivial money if their numbers are REALLY good. There is a dweeb who posts videos about how much does XXX make monthly on YouTube.

Of course, the winner is inevitably YT, who values apolitical content providers because pulling viewers means that others will be induced (eg; pay) to advertise on YT in the banner and intro ads. Or, if you don’t want to watch those, you can pay YT to not see them!
My guess is that YT perceives Alex Jones viewers as non-buyers of services & products offered by various other advertisers; they just want their latest conspiracy theory.
I run Ad-Blockers and all kinds of pop-up killers, etc and YouTube has never challenged me on it, like NYT or US Today, etc.
I occasionally will whitelist one or two, if it's a story I really wish to read, but as far as YouTube, it just seems like a hell of a good source for all things funny and helpful, and it has not cost me a cent and I've had no hassle.
Probably should keep my mouth shut and just enjoy, huh?
Anyway, thanks for the info.
YT has in large regard replaced television viewing for a great number of Americans (and no doubt people around the world) And I mean, large number.
I spend a lot of time on it, I’m halfway embarrassed and halfway proud of it.
Even though I do essentially none of it, I like construction equipment, love metal machining (there are 3-5 absolutely super, outstanding machinists who post VERY high quality machining videos) There are good numbers of killer woodworkers and what’s interesting (and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you) is that some of these folks have gotten very good, remarkably good at video production, both by investing in better and better cameras, buying drones to supplant their “on the ground” footage, etc; and it’s neat to watch their progress over the years. Some folks produce videos that are just as good as the better PBS series like “Nature”.
Of course, there are very few devices you can name or encounter that cannot be fixed by searching for YT videos. There’s almost nothing that YT does not know.
Plus all my musical faves. Free lessons if you want to learn an instrument. I go in and out of being interesting in old cars.
I find it a remarkable resource. Really one of the best uses of the internet there is.
Also, I thought of the idea with a partner in the early 90’s and copyrighted the name “UTV”.
Did you see the press operator placing both palms on the table as a way to keep his hands out of the press. Today that would be a double palm press that would not allow the press to operate unless both buttons were pushed.
It would be that 40 years ago. I worked a paper cutting machine that could cut a stack of paper 6” thick. You had to push two buttons to drop the blade.
