“My main concern will be people taking it and not telling anyone.”

I sure as hell wouldn’t tell anyone. No need to invite the government into my exploits.

sank some 400 years-ago while carrying 100,000 pounds of gold and 400 bars of Mexican silver

The billion pounds they mention is currency. The only weight mentioned is the 100,000 pounds of gold.

The weather can be notoriously bad out there, especially this time of year. Hopefully, no one is gonna die trying this without proper training and equipment.

From Wikipedia "On board were at least 100,000 pounds of gold (over 1.5 billion USD in today's money)[3], 400 bars of Mexican silver (another 1 million) and nearly 500,000 pieces of eight and other coins, making it one of the most valuable wrecks of all times"

Figure the guy standing next to it is 6’ tall, that means 20’ for the Anchor.

“A scuba-diving treasure hunter said he now fears a “dangerous” gold rush after what is thought to be the anchor of the most valuable British shipwreck in history was found off the coast of Cornwall. “

Basically, He saw it FIRST. And to leave it for him to find.

If the ship lost the anchor it could have floated two hundred miles from there before sinking. Big area to cover.

“Pounds” was not talking about weight. It was talking about current value in pounds sterling.

I know guys, I know.

The largest ship in the world weighs in a just over 1 billion lbs. And it surely can’t carry a billion lbs. load.
