The woman who was charged with confronting a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat inside a Falmouth Mexican restaurant is now in ICE custody. The department said she was in the country illegally.

Police said Rosiane Santos walked by Bryton Turner as he was eating dinner at Casa Vallarta and knocked the hat off his head. She then allegedly confronted him verbally.

Turner recorded video showing some of the confrontation.

Well over a year ago, I wore my MAGA hat to Hardy's one night and an elderly man started cursing me. The place was empty except for the staff, the old man and his wife, and me.

Frankly, at first I didn't notice...I just thought he and his wife were having a lively chat, but I realized as I walked out the front door that he was trying to make a scene about my hat.

This happened in the Deep South...which is why I didn't immediately pick up on this old man's actions.

BTW, I think his wife was trying to calm him down.

To establish deterrence against illegal re-entry, you really need custodial sentences. Given the big stink over an American teenage vandal getting flogged by the Singaporean government for vandalism during the Clinton era, I thought I’d look up its penalty for illegal immigration. I can’t know for sure whether it works, but it’s no revolving door. And then there’s the flogging.

Wearing a MAGA hat appears to be the best way to bring them out of the woodwork. Simply sport one around town and see what happens. It’s kind of like smokin’ a skunk out of a woodpile.

Re-entry after removal is a criminal offense classified as a felony under 8 USC 1326. The sentencing guidelines depend on the prior criminal history of the removed alien and are greatly increased if the alien is a prior convicted felon.
