Like I said, it’s not Star Trek. It’s some bizarro-universe abortion with the same names.

>> So, watched the latest episodes, time travel absurdity is factoring into to this season of Discovery. Might explain the “non-canon”y feel. <<

Heh. When the show was first created, they swore up and down that there "won't be time travel in Discovery" because it had been "played out" in Star Trek and had become a "crutch" for the writers. They broke that "rule" after only 6 episodes (the Harry Mudd time loop episode). Just like their claims that "shouldn't expect to ever see Spock on Discovery"

>> Mike finally found Spock, inexplicably bearded and mumbling like a nutcase the coordinates to....the planet Talos IV. WTF? I presumed this would have been BEFORE the Enterprise visited there, maybe not. <<

Ugh. I'm glad I gave up on this show half way thru season 1. The show's supporters claim Season is "much better" than the first season and that it keeps getting "better and better". Just reading basic plot descriptions make it sound WORSE AND WORSE. Season 1, as lousy as it was, didn't rape beloved Trek characters or come up with magic fantasy explanations to resolve plot points.

Oh, and timeline wise, this takes place about 2-3 years AFTER the events of "The Cage" where Pike visited Talos IV. And they clearly state later on when Kirk and Spock are in command that NO STARFLEET VESSEL HAS EVER VISITED TALOS IV AFTER PIKE, and that it is explicitly forbidden by General Order 4 and violators are eligible for the death penalty.

No point in trying to reconcile any of that with the events of Discovery, I decided long ago that its set in its own crappy universe.

>> Wilson Cruz was actually the ship’s doctor so he does not exist solely as Rapp’s BF <<

From the eight episodes of season 1 I saw, the "Chief Medical Officer" on THIS show got LESS character development than "Nurse #3" assisting Dr. Beverly Crusher in a random episode, so yes he DOES exist for the sole purpose of reminding the audience that Rapp has sex with men.

FYI, as well, I had nothing against Wilson Cruz before (I was surprised he was the same guy who played the effinine character on My So Called Life), but after seeing his latest tirade on Twitter... to hell with Cruz, he's an particularly nasty SJW a-hole.

>>> The Chubby girl Tilly has been called “Wesley done right” and I agree with that assessment. <<

I don't see much resemblance to Wesley Crusher, aside from rank? (and she is an adult fresh out of the academy whereas he was a teen given a battlefield promotion to a comissioned rank before he even ENTERED the academy!) He was the boy wonder who Gene Roddenberry created as some kind of prodigy who was the smartest person in the role and solved the problem all the adults overlooked. Tilly is some nervous giddy wet-behind-the-ears Ensign.

She's cute and likeable, she's the "best" Discovery character by default because I think she might be the ONLY actual character on the show. The rest of them are glorified set pieces, like the ship's Helmsman (they're halfway thru season 2 and I bet none of show's regular viewers could even tell you her name), or virtue signaling characters there to loudly showcase how BOLD AND PROGRESSIVE the show is, e.g. look at how Captain Lorca is an EVIL MIDDLE AGED SOUTHERN WHITE MAN!!!

In short, Tilly would be an average Trek character (say, someone like Tom Paris) on a real Trek show. Shame she's not on one, then we could have a vested interest in following the character's growth over the course of the show.

Young wonderkid archetype, that’s the general comparison between Wes and TIlly.

“Glorified set pieces”

I like that!

I looked up the helm chick cause I was wondering what was up with her eye (I guess she was injured in the battle in the pilot).

I also looked up the cyborg chick cause WTF is up with her? Sources don’t agree whether she’s an alien or human. Last ep I saw I think some evil computer thing got up in her, dun dun dun.

They made “Michael” Spock’s adopted sister so OF COURSE they were gonna show Spock. SMH. I don’t get the lying (like saying Cumberbitch wasn’t Kahn and then having him be Kahn, outright lies are not “twists”).

I think they’ll be heading to the forbidden planet in a private shuttle, I’ll let you know.

She is also good in ST Discovery

Really? She seemed pretty lifeless to me. They combined the impulsive Kirk and the logical Spock in the main character, Michael Burnham, and that doesn't leave those playing against her with much to do. It seemed that way to me anyway. I gave up after a few episodes.

The person behind the lies is Alex Kurtzman. He was the head writer on Star Trek Into Darkness and is the "showrunner" on STD and has written and directed a number of episodes. I think he's like Slick Willie in that you can pretty much tell he's lying whenever he lips are moving.

His biggest lie was claiming Discovery would be 'strictly following canon' when that OBVIOUSLY isn't the case since the FIRST episode of the show aired and had them using holographic communication on a routine basis, roughly 110 years before it was introduced as a brand new, experimental technology in DS9.

His latest claim is that the upcoming Picard series with Patrick Stewart will be "nothing like Discovery" and that the show picks up in the prime timeline with Jean Luc Picard, 25 years after we last saw him.

So I take that to mean the show will be EXACTLY like Discovery and it will basically be Picard in the Discovery universe (Klingorcs, f-bombs, everything is dark with a weird bluish hue, Geordi La Forge married to another man so they can do a shoutout to the LGBTQWHATEVERINITALSTHEYADDEDTHISWEEK community, etc.) I bet his version on Picard is a huge admirer of "legendary 23rd century Starfleet officer Michael Burnham"

Also he claims there won't be any TNG cast members on the new show besides Picard, so there's one right up there with "Cumberbatch isn't Khan" and "you won't see Spock on Discovery"

Here’s what you’ve been missing on Discovery

Cyborg chick got a backstory (shuttle accident, now she stores memories like a computer with limited space) and was then killed off.

Mirror Yeoh made a comment to Faggy and Wilson Cruz they were pansexual in her universe and had a lot of fun together, she called Cruz “Papi”. “Did you just call me Papi”? Anyway they said “We’re gay” and I think that’s the first and only time they actually used the word.

The villain of the season is a skynet ripoff that might be a nonsensical borg origin story (more likely just a hybrid skynet/borg ripoff)

But wait for it, Klingon time crystals.

I repeat Klingon time crystals. Apparently those are a thing that people have heard of, the Klingons keep them in some BS time monastery where a baby sent there is grown up in a few weeks and trees grow instantly and they totally don’t use them for weapons. One of them powered Michael’s mom’s magic section 31 time travel suit (yes) but that one got broken or something so Pike went to the monastery to get another one. The present became the future of the past or some nonsense and the crystal showed him his radioactive future (which looked easily avoidable). The albino “Klingon” monk (this the son of the Klingon who became transhuman and the female Klingon Chancellor) who used to be a baby tells Pike he can avoid that future if he leaves without the crystal but it will be locked in if he takes it (whut?). A teary eyed Pike talks about sacrifice and takes the crystal, the Klingon says “I Honor you”.

But turns out they don’t have enough time to figure out how to do something time travely with the time crystal before the 30 or so (not 31?) Section 31 ships that have been taken over by the skynetborg gang up on them and steals the “data about the universe” that Discovery uploaded from a dying Giant “Sphere” alien that skynetborg will use to destory ALL SENTIENT LIFE (this phrases is used 6 or 7 times) in the future so they decide to blow up the ship to destroy the undeletable data. Dun dun dun.

Dumb as it is I was enjoying it but they kinda lost me with Klingon Time Crystals. It’s still worth the price to watch, free, cause I’m pirating it. But...........Klingon time crystals.

There was actually episode about “Saru”’s people that was kinda good Star Trek.
