I am not sure I believe this poll, especially if it's featured on CBS. Every day there's another news story about an illegal having killed someone, raped someone, voted illegally, or something. These stories are available for the public to read. Can the entire American populace really be that stupid, shallow, and shortsighted? Of course, plenty of people voted for Odungo, Hillary, Bernie, etc., so idiocy does exist in our country, big time. This poll claims that 68% of voters did not support shutting down the government to get funding for the wall. Let me ask them something: Are you in favor of huge amounts of drugs coming over the southern border? Are you in favor of extensive human trafficking? Are you in favor of paying BILLIONS of your tax dollars EVERY year to pay for all the needs of people who don't even belong here? Are you in favor of being replaced as a voter by all the illegals, their anchor babies, and all the relatives they bring in, to the point where you have no representation?
If the answer is yes, then you get what you deserve. If the answer is a more rational no, then I ask you: just what exactly was Trump supposed to do, in order to assure your safety and that of the country in general, faced with the likes of Pelosi and Schumer refusing to make any sort of reasonable compromise to fund the wall? He has to operate from a very small menu of possible actions on this, and he chose to close down the government. It is his right to do so, and he did so with the ultimate good of the country in mind.

Leadership is about doing what’s right, not what’s popular.
Do you think Supply-Side economics was popular? Yet Reagan won in a landslide.

I don’t believe it and I don’t believe CBS, but I certainly have come to believe President Trump has failed to rally public opinion with facts, as most successful presidents have done. Most of his spokespeople are atrocious.

The results are deeply divided along party and racial lines. Republicans trust Mr. Trump 87 to 8 percent, while Democrats trust congressional Democrats 91 to 4 percent. White voters trust Mr. Trump by 50 to 44 percent, black voters trust Democrats by 75 to 16 percent and Hispanic voters trust Democrats 66 to 13 percent. IOW, another worthless poll.

Well, whatever the true state of the situation is, I firmly believe that if the President is unsuccessful in making serious headway on this, his chances of reelection in 2020 are almost non-existent.

If the majority of Americans want a wall, how can more people possibly trust the Democrats with border security?
