Trump has had a year since then, most of the time with R majorities.

I believe Trump made one miscalculation.

He believed with a strong economy and record low unemployment Republicans would ride the Trump wave into office and he would have a super majority.

But Republicans pulled out of elections rather than fight and left seat vulnerable. Republican never-Trumpers were never on board.

After the mid-terms, to me, Trump looked disheartened if not defeated. He didn't get the support he had hoped for.

Many people here were screaming "RED WAVE" as if a victory was a sure thing and woe to anyone who spoke of caution. Nothing's a sure thing in politics. Never take any small thing for granted. Democrats have the media to amplify their agenda.

But those supporteRS said no wall, no support. So those who didn’t abandon him for the moment weren’t being truthful?

This is politics and it was 3 weeks not 3 months. The goal, whenever possible, is to win over as many hearts and minds of the public as possible so he has the support of the people. Now this congress is not listening to the people anymore than previous congresses did on securing the border permanently but we’ve never had a President who was more committed to getting it done either so between him and the people (hopefully writing to their congressmen); this will get done.

If congress won’t do their job; Trump can bypass them with the blessing of the people. A significant majority anyway. Without that blessing of the people; Trump would come across as a dictator like obama did. I think that’s why Trump is taking this longer more difficult political path to get this done.

There will always be that small percentage of commie dems who oppose it but screw them. In fact; deport them.

Yes, those office holders pulled out. We cry for term limits yet when it occurs naturally we cry they left a seat vulnerable. Term limits would do the same thing.

Because Trump doesn't waste his time on political games and trying to one-up people.

He's looking for the best possible solutions to help the country.

The Border Patrol and Coast Guard people needed to get paid. Plus the air traffic controllers that would have shut down air travel in the Northeast.

Sometimes you have to retreat and regroup. Even Alinsky said a tactic that goes on too long isn't a tactic at all. I'm not worried. When 02/15 rolls around, there will be a lot of people eating their Tweets.

My own personal view is he caved because of the SOTU . Pelosi canceling the SOTU in The House was the only thing that changed last week. And all that talk from Trump about the “tradition” and the “history” of the SOTU in The House chambers and what not. Not sure why he is hung up on that. Personally,I couldn't give two hoots about SOTU in The House chambers. He wouldn't give the SOTU elsewhere. Trump snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
I'd tell Pelosi to go take a jump over the highest cliff she can find over the SOTUM.

Too much focus on the wall. If Trump doesn’t present the whole package, 1) wall 2) permanent eVerify 3) no more chain migration 4) birthright citizenship per Minor v. Happersett 5) terminate H1b and related visas 6) end immigration lottery 7) 10-yr moratorium on new citizenship applications, so the illegal aliens might as well just go back to their countries of origin now.

I submit that Trump didn’t cave.

When your favorite boxer gets rocked, in the 5th round of a 10 round fight, do you submit that he didn’t get rocked? Yeah Trump acts and reacts dynamically and may ju jitsu them yet or make lemonade of the lemons but things put him in a place where he didn’t want to be and he reset the board...by caving.

In all this talk of proper constitutional authority contemplate the fact that people in authority comitted vast crimes against the constitution and are presently engaged in investigating the president for a crime to be named later who THEMSELVES could be indicted by the President at will...and Trump has let them skate. Now add this facet to the contemplation: Trump has amply demonstrated that he thinks as you and I do in this matter yet he let’s it slide.

EVERYONE in government is against Trump. He KNOWS that applying the law to the malefactor’s will touch off the firestorm that he is presently using his considerable experience to finesse his way around. That firestorm will be Trump and a fraction of the 60 million against EVERYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET. Yeah he caved. He had to. He’s trying hard not to be the President during whose term the shit finally hit the fan.

what is winning to you? everyone’s definition is their own. Trump has already won in many ways about the wall- lots more independent efforts being formulated as ways to do it - private lands, public lands, he has raised much more awareness and opened people and his and pelosi/congress eyes about all sorts of things regarding what can realistically be done in various spots of border etc.

Trump has already won and so have those of us with open minds about learning and understanding and taking responsibility for OUR part of being citizens in this country. If you want to be of a loser mentality go have fun with that.

Will he get a full length CA thru TX 20 ft in ground and 30 ft high 3 ft wide (or whatever dementions people say he talked about) concrete wall no. it’s not doable in some areas anyway. Will we get some wall/new barriers and much upgrades for border security and likely some immigration changes - I believe yes. Whatver we get will be better than what is currently happening.

And NO project is done all at once - it takes phases. We are winning just having a president continually pushing this converstaion to get some new security for our borders, being none in last 30+yrs have even really done that.

I like your thinking. But alas, we don’t live in a perfect world and perception to many of the sheeples equals reality.

Gonna go out on a limb here and postulate far less than half of voters cast their vote based upon deep convictions.

And the bulk of the media as the Fifth Column has sway over far too many people.

I will vote for him regardless of what happens short of proof of some type of capital offense.

He brought out many people from the sidelines who had long been feeling disenfranchised politically speaking. I fear the constant drum beat of “Hate Trump” will have an effect and if Florida and Texas flip many of “us” will fade away into the shadows of disenfranchisement once again.

3 weeks gets us past:

1. Confirming 51 more judicial appointments held over and re-nominated since last Congress

2. Confirming Barr as AG. Then, let the fun begin!

3. SuperBowl security measures assured.

4. Having exceeded 30 days' shutdown prompts review for extending lay-offs for some, and elimination of positions/RIFs for others.

5. As others have said, do the State of the Union -- Pelosi has no excuse to refuse Trump now, and frame the security issues to the Nation in screaming neon.

Trump did not cave, folks.

"Madame President Nancy" (as she is now known), and Chuckie would beg to differ. To put the cheery on top, Madame President Nancy postponed the State of the Union address just to rub Trump's nose in it in front of the entire nation. Yeah sounds like he's "winning" alright.

As soon as he declares a national state of emergency, Madame President Nancy, Chuck and their corrupt socialist judges are going to shut Trump down and tie him up so hard, for so long in the courts, NOTHING WILL EVER GET FUNDED OR BUILT.

I sincerely hope that I am wrong, but so far Trump is batting ZERO when it comes to going against the swamp, and getting a PHYSICAL WALL funded or built. All he has done is threatened, tweeted, cajoled, plead, begged and complained. He has done everything but ACT.

The time for "playing nice", trying to "work with" and "negotiate" has been over for a very long time.

The handwriting is on the wall: the DEMON RATS, and "RINO republicans" have absolutely no interest in "acting fairly", obeying the law, negotiating in good faith, building a wall, or securing the border.

They have made their intentions perfectly clear: THEY ARE OUT FOR BLOOD, THEY WANT TO DESTROY PRESIDENT TRUMP, OVERTHROW THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION AND THE WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, PERMANENTLY DESTROY THE COUNTY AS FOUNDED BY LEAVING THE BORDERS TOTALLY UNPROTECTED SO THAT HORDES OF CHEAP LABOR, CRIMINAL, ILLEGAL ALIEN LAWBREAKERS CAN OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM, AND CREATE A NEW, TOTALLY DEPENDENT, UNDERCLASS VOTING BLOCK THAT WILL REPLACE AMERICAN CITIZENS AND KEEP THE DEMON RATS, AND THE DEEP STATE SWAMP IN POWER IN PERPETUITY BY "FUNDAMENTALLY TRANSFORMING AMERICA". And yes, I am YELLING because you would have to be a dolt or a fool to not undestand this reality by now.

That is their stated goal and objective, and they are succeeding.

You can't reason or "negotiate" with them, you must ACT ASAP! Because the very existence of the nation is at stake and they have absolutely no intentions of stopping to implement their stated objective, none whatsoever.
