Living to the ripe old age of 90 may depend on your body size -- both height and weight -- as well as your level of physical activity, and seems to influence a woman's lifespan more than it does a man's, according to a new study published Monday in the medical journal BMJ.
The study found women who lived to 90 were, on average, taller and had put on less weight since the age of 20 as compared to women who were shorter and heavier. No such association was seen for men. However, men saw more benefit from physical activity than women.
Women who weighed less at age 20 and put on less weight as they aged were more likely to live longer than heavier women. Height played a major factor: the study found women who were taller than 5 feet 9 inches were 31% more likely to live into their 90s than women who were less than 5 feet 3 inches.
Neither height or weight seemed to factor into whether the men reached their 90s, but activity level did. Men who spent 90 minutes a day or more being active were 39% more likely to live to 90 than men who were physically active for less than 30 minutes. In addition, for each 30 minutes a day the men were active, they were 5% more likely to reach that age.
However, women who were physically active for more than 60 minutes a day were only 21% more likely to live to 90 than those who did 30 minutes or less. And unlike men, there was no bonus for increasing activity. In fact, the study found that the optimal level of activity for women was 60 minutes a day.

But, did they shave with gillette?

That’s not enough to cook dinner and keep the house clean.
More unfair sexism from white males re who gets past age 90!

Well, they don't actually know when you'll drop, but there's an actuarial table on pg 866 of the linked doc where you can calculate the odds.
This page is the "mortality table". An example:
If you want to know the odds you'll be alive at 90 when you're currently 50, look up the numbers for 90 and 50 in the table and divide:
The entry for 50 is 92370 and the entry for 90 is 17046.
Thus, 17046 / 92370 = .18454 or about an 18% chance you'll be doing an ensure commercial (live).
But the BMI nuts tell us that a man and woman should weigh exactly the same.
I’m 62, so I’m destined to die at 74 anyway

They are wrong.
Pick the right parents before you’re born. The majority of your health prospects depend on genetics more than anything else, unless of course you seriously abuse your body.
Otherwise live moderately and don’t have a family history of anything other than long life.
Let’s see, I’m male and I carry plenty of emergency fat reserves as a precaution. You never know when you’ll need it.
Since the age of the one person in my family who lived the longest was 74, I’m guessing my odds of living to be 90, are slim to none. None were fat. Three smoked themselves to death. One died of a heart attack, and the other a stroke. I’m 71, never smoked, and am thanking God for every day he is giving me.
God Bless your Mom. My oldest sister lived the longest so far. If I make it to 75, I will have outlived her. But she was an alcoholic and smoked her whole life, yet she outlived everyone else in my family except me. I was the baby and never smoked, but that doesn’t mean I won’t develop some form of cancer.

That’s why multiple wives come in handy ...
There are going to be a lot of anti-aging drugs in the near future that will help us all live way above 90. And the science behind caloric restriction is well known but these results on taller people is really weird.

This is disconcerting. Does it tell where I will die? Because if it does I won't go there that day.
In addition, for each 30 minutes a day the men were active, they were 5% more likely to reach that age.
So just work out 24x7 and you’re guaranteed to reach 90.
Got it.
I am 78 and just back from the YMCA gym I use about an hour each day. Maybe it influences longevity —I don’t know—but exercise is great for mental outlook and energy. And it can generally be taken up in some form regardless of age or condition.
