Police are investigating the death of a baby girl who was found in the restroom of an Amazon warehouse in the US state of Arizona.
Phoenix police spokesman Vincent Lewis said the newborn was reported to police at the online retail giant's facility on Wednesday evening.
Homicide detectives are working to determine if any crime was committed at the facility, he said.
Police have identified the mother, who is co-operating with the investigation.
In a press conference on Thursday, Sgt Lewis refused to publicly name her or say whether she is employed at the distribution centre.
"But, again, the restroom was located inside of a secured Amazon facility," said Sgt Lewis, who refused to speculate on what charges the mother may face.
He said that investigators are looking into whether the child was born in the toilet, adding that the infant appeared to have only been there briefly.
"It had been there some time," he said, adding, "very recent, same day".
"It appeared to first responders that the baby was full term, or close to that," the spokesman said, adding that she could not be resuscitated by medics from the city's fire department.

Not quite correct. An intelligent, well-bred woman can do the same thing. It only takes someone who doesn’t care, or is afraid, or more likely, pretty sure she can get away with it. Even if someone is afraid, it takes a callousness and she has to believe she will eventually get away with it.
Look for Feminists to have a massive out-pouring of sympathy for her and pressure on the prosecutor to level the lowest possible ever charge, if there are any charges at all. There have already been cases where this has happened.
Don’t tell me: Besides not letting employees take a bathroom break, he also doesn’t let them take a birth break.
We are all drug tested (saliva tube test) before we start but I haven't seen any tests since then. Pretty sure that they can test anyone at any time if they want to, per the employment agreement.
One cannot get into a facility without an active badge. They found the birth mother so no mystery there.
I have a hard time believing that a pregnant mom could have the energy to keep to warehouse production standards at 9 months.
So? They were free to get another job if they didn’t like the conditions. There is no excuse for abandoning a baby to die and it has nothing to do with a Company or a CEO.
