There’s an arrest recorded for him on my local PD’s website. The charge was “assault on a child under 12.”
Very minor point: In my day, little children knew not to openly challenge dangerously crazy men. Because, you know, bad stuff might happen.
What was going on there?
She was running at him to throw a punch... and she was pretty damn big for a “12 year old”.
Good that they arrested him. I hope they lock him away for a long time.

In my (and I suspect, your) day, children were not vicious thugs. I’m sorry but she asked for it and while the guy will get punished and deserves it as much as if he assaulted an adult, the day is coming when the laws are going to start looking at “children” in a different way.
The man exhibited appropriate behavior. Defending oneself is good.
It was self defense.
I hope they throw the violent brat who attempted to assault him in a juvenile detention center for violent offenders where she most definitely belongs.

A bunch of feral youts ... this girl came up to him aggressively and he pushed her away.
The little brat still didn’t learn anything useful so she got up and charged at him AGAIN. At which time he could have let her run over him or put her down. I believe she got exactly what she deserved (and needed)
I would have arrested HER and all her friends. They were the aggressors- he was trying to stop a brawl.
If she had been 12, would it have said, “Assault on a Child Under 13”?

Looked to me like the kids were trying to play “the knockout game” and picked someone the wrong size.
The clue that they were up to something planned was the crowd and the phone camera out and recording.

Twenty years ago, I would have agreed with you, no questions asked. But now, I’ve got to see the video first.
And it sure like he was pushed first. That guy’s big mistake was that he did not quickly retreat out of that situation.

The good thing that will come out of this is the little “Shaneequas” in that crowd will think twice about doing that shit again.
He probably should have waited til they took a swing at him. This is why I no longer want to be in an area with these kinds of feral kids.

Now, at the mall, as a Conservative observer, when I see a white man knock out a young black child? I say: "I was in fear for my life He shouldn't have done that."
