First, the students will have to learn what fascism was, and what a fascist is or would be, if there were any.
It is dangerous for teachers to ask students to take controversial positions. My HS history teacher wanted a debate on capital punishment. There were several people on the no side, but no one wanted the yes side, so I volunteered. I thought I would get beaten up when class ended. I rebutted every argument and the students and the teacher were furious.
Thought expeiment:
In Nazi Germany, or in modern day China, would a government-funded school be allowed to ask that question about their leader?
That's the perfect rebuttal, and a very short essay.
“Haverhill High School is under fire after assigning history students a controversial homework project asking if President Trump has characteristics of a fascist.”
If conservatives in this school district got off their fat, useless asses and attended schoolboard meetings, this crap would never happen.
I was in local government for 10 years, and it was amazing how stupid-ass, so-called conservatives could find excuses that they couldn’t spare one f’n hour a month to attend schoolboard meetings to ensure that their sons and daughters were receiving an education, and not a leftist indoctrination.
I think that people do not step up because they will be marginalized and their children will be marginalized in the community. We live in fascist times.
“I think that people do not step up because they will be marginalized and their children will be marginalized in the community. We live in fascist times.”
You or your children can’t be marginalized, FRiend, if your community outnumbers the leftists ten to one. This crap would never fly in my school district.
In most of my area leftists are equal to or more than conservatives.
“In most of my area leftists are equal to or more than conservatives.”
Consider moving, Chickensoup. If you have children attending leftist schools, you and your family would be welcome in my community. Less stress and better for you and your family all around.
I homeschooled all of my children and they are grown and gone.
“I homeschooled all of my children and they are grown and gone.”
Good on you. Best wishes for you and yours.
