Today's Cryptogram
1/12/2018 | Nikos1121

Today's Cryptogram:

IXN VONBI IXZUV BQCYI VNIIZUV CDTNO ZF IXBI SCY TCU'I DCFN BDD IXN CIXNO BVNF SCY'LN QNNU. RBTNDNZUN D'NUVDN

Many obvious words today! You should recognize the 8th word, and possibly the 10th too. That should get you started. The last two words should will take you quickly to the finish line. Anything under 4 minutes would be good. Under 2 minutes, exceptional.

Solution to our last puzzle is in the first reply below.

Please don’t post a “spoiler” solution in the general posting, but you can post it in my private reply.

Feel free to offer the group your solution time and any tips you have on solving cryptograms, as we have many newbies here.

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter.

For example:

AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram)

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

Send me a private reply if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

It’s easier to work on the puzzle without having to use your pencil.

Let me know if you want on or off our Cryptogram Ping List, (currently at 38!)

Solution to our last puzzle:

*** NEVER INTERRUPT YOUR ENEMY WHEN HE IS MAKING A MISTAKE. NAPOLEON BONAPARTE ***

Sounds like something Trump would say...

These are not as easy as they look when you’re starting out, but in short order they get easier...

Can’t believe it. Did it in 5 min. Must have been rejuvinated when I made an early morning trip to the hospital to see my new grandson. My son was so happy to finally have a son to pass his gun collection on to...lol

Okay, I started with the first word that had an apostrophe and it went really quick after that. I didn’t time it, but it seemed about 3-4 minutes.

Agree completely. I thought I was hopeless for the first 4 or 5 I tried and then something clicked. This one was about 4 minutes for me. I think part of it is developing confidence.

4 minutes is an excellent score... Takes one minute, just to write the puzzle out...

3 minutes is an amazing score, if you’ve never done these before, after just a week or so...

I think you’re hooked? :-)

I couldn't do it as quickly without "Hal's Cryptogram Helper" ... an amazing (and very helpful) little program.

I think it also helps that I have worked as a court stenographer for over 40 years ...
