Google has chosen the winner of its annual Doodle for Google contest — and a second grader from Virginia stood out above the rest. Sarah Gomez-Lane's dinosaur doodle won her a $30,000 college scholarship.

Gomez-Lane drew a line of dinosaurs whose body shapes resemble the letters spelling out "Google." She and other finalists visited Google for the day and got to meet with the company's designers. It was there that Google revealed Gomez-Lane won the contest.

Sorry to say this -— But by the time he goes to college, that amount will be worth very little.

Have you seen the Doodle? I will guarantee you that the second grader didn't do the animation.

How much of this amount will pay for the kid's college when he reaches the age?

When she gets to college, that will pay for her freshman books.

“When she gets to college, that will pay for her freshman books.”

The money will be invested, or Google will keep it in real dollars pegged to inflation.

In any case, it’s still $30k more in scholarships than most other second graders have for college.

I was going to say the same thing. I just watched it, it’s very clever, Google-Like animation. Very very good IMO.

The children don’t produce the animated part, they just supply the original drawing. Some of them were very good.
