Netflix has taken down an episode of a satirical comedy show critical of Saudi Arabia in the country after officials from the kingdom complained, sparking criticism from Human Rights Watch, which said the act undermined the streaming service’s “claim to support artistic freedom”.
Hasan Minhaj was critical of the Saudi heir in an episode of the standup show Patriot Act, delivering a wide-ranging monologue mocking the Saudis’ evolving account of what happened inside the country’s consulate in Istanbul in October, when the journalist was killed.

Human Rights Watch said artists whose work is broadcast on Netflix should be outraged, adding that Saudi Arabia has no interest in its citizens exercising democratic rights.
... “Netflix’s claim to support artistic freedom means nothing if it bows to demands of government officials who believe in no freedom for their citizens – not artistic, not political, not comedic.”
Netflix defended its decision, stressing that it was in response to a “valid legal request” from the kingdom’s communications and information technology commission, to which it acceded in order to “comply with local law”.

It added that the Saudi telecoms regulator cited a cyber-crime law that states that “production, preparation, transmission, or storage of material impinging on public order, religious values, public morals, and privacy, through the information network or computers” is a crime punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine not exceeding SR3m ($800,000).
The episode can still be seen in other parts of the world – and in Saudi Arabia on YouTube – yet it is likely to raise pressing new questions about the limits of free online expression and the responsibility of western companies to uphold liberal values.

Shame on an American company, first Google, now Netflix, bowing to foreign countries. We dropped Netflix last year because of the bias and affiliation with the Obamas.

We were disgusted when Netflix began airing that series ostensibly for KIDS featuring masturbation, multi-gender nonsense and the whole liberal litany of culture-destroying idiocy. We bailed then but went back briefly when it appeared that they had toned it down after OTHER subscribers complained or bailed.
Then came the brilliant move by them to put Susan “Liar of Benghazi” Rice on their board! That was the last straw. We’re never going back!
If OTHER citizens don’t care that they are pouring millions into an outfit that redirects millions of THEIR fees into every left-wing cause out there, they have only themselves to blame as this country heads further into the yawning socialist sewer waiting at the end of the America the Founders TRIED to leave us.
If you don’t fully grasp how the power structure players - and most
especially the LEFT - take care of one another, this BOD thing with Rice
will be a well-paid SINECURE (that’s a position with great benefits/pay
but NO real responsibility) in which to park Susie as - HOPEFULLY - the
long arm of the law reaches out to her to - again HOPEFULLY - grab her
by her greasy, stringy hair and pull her into a courtroom and - with
luck - a cage at Leavenworth or some equally well appointed correctional
facility! My preference for all of them is Guantanamo!!
Bottom line for me? I’ve grown weary of subsidizing those who demonstrate that they are on the OTHER SIDE!
The often-delayed time for choosing WHICH SIDE WE’RE ON has arrived!

Why would there be outrage? I expect nothing less from an organization that has hired Obama and Rice.
This is exactly what you can expect from Nerflix and their new investment couple, Obummer and Moochel , remember he said he would come down on the side of muslims, should the occasion ever arise.
Netflix is the next big tech firm which will hit the trash can once people see the absolute trash their future “content” will be showing.
GET OUT OF NETFLIX WHILE YOU CAN. Their productions will be pure merde.
