I gathered back when that most all the Stones had done that total transfusion routine in Switzerland. Was to end addiction to heroin without withdrawal unpleasantness.

John Fogerty (CCR), although CCR's performance was not released on the film nor the soundtrack. Rumor has it the record company owning their rights couldn't come to an agreement. No surprise there, given all of the legal issues CCR and Fogerty had over the decades with them.

Fogerty is a raging liberal these days, so he would fit right in. Which saddens me because CCR was one of my all-time favorite groups.

They’ll have to build the arena like a Greek ampitheater to wheel all the remaining geriatics out to the stage.....,

The Who (the two who survive) would definitely be able to - saw them for the first and only time in 2017 and they were great. Watched their Woodstock performance of “See Me Feel Me” and although their 2017 version wasn’t quite as energetic, it was still really good.

Woodstock - an American memorabilia event, no more to be repeated that VE Day, 1945, the end of the war in Europe.

The original participants may no longer be gathered, and the events cannot be recreated as any more than carefully arranged poses.

This thing will fizzle out when all of the old Woodstockers take off their clothes.

“The Dead were stoned to the point that their music was unintelligible.”

Could be any GD performance. Funny.

Actually I saw the Dead 6-7 times. They definitely have different degrees of proficiency in their music. Sometimes excellent. I’m talking about their more ‘country’ stuff not their psychedelic early ‘acid’ stuff.

It is sad seeing these old rock warhorses still taking the stage a half century past their prime.
----------------
It is an indicator of the choke hold baby boomers have on the culture.  Reanimating Woodstock fifty years after the fact would be like the 1965 Super Bowl featuring a half-time performance by the Cliquot Club Eskimos.

CCR definitely developed huge legal (and interpersonal) struggles which led to early break-up of the band and endless bad blood to this day. However, I have read a couple of times over the years that the specific cause of their performance being left out of Woodstock film and album releases was that John Fogerty considered the performance sub-par for them and vetoed its release (he was quite the perfectionist, but maybe also control-freak in the eyes of fellow band members):

"At the wee hours of the night, CCR took the stage for a sleepy Woodstock crowd who had just finished mellowing out to an arduously long performance by the Grateful Dead. John Fogerty of CCR refused to allow the concert to be put on the documentary as he felt that the circumstances created a performance was not good enough to be documented."

I hope the Rolling Stones don’t employ the Hell’s Angels for security like they did at The Altamont Speedway Free Festival. Or maybe they should?

Bon Jovi and Clapton actually melded into one person back in 1993. I saw it on the internet, so I believe it.

I’ve heard the album. Most of the music was crap, IMO.
