Trump’s Christmas Echoes the One in 1776
It’s time to recall the first government shutdown in American history, and how a future president won that battle with his bold, decisive action.It was in December of 1776, when General George Washington was camped along the Delaware River in northeastern Pennsylvania.
On December 12, 1776, Congress adjourned without extending the enlistments of American soldiers or approving their pay for the coming year. Members of Congress abandoned Philadelphia, where they had been meeting, because they feared the British troops nearby in New Jersey.
Once the soldiers’ enlistments ran out, the Continental Army would disband and soldiers would return to their farms in the 13 colonies.Some soldiers had already gone home, some were barefoot, food was running short, and winter was coming in.
But Washington was not going to give up the American cause without a fight. In an incredibly bold and risky maneuver, he decided to load his entire army ? men, horses and munitions ? into boats to cross the icy Delaware River on Christmas night.

Regarding the Uber comment
Uber checks the driver 3 ways...at random:
1. Asks to take selfie and checks image with driving license on file
2. Tells driver to click on a link and use home computer uber password
3. Tells driver to "review contract"
Scroll down each page and click YES
Last page is "security check" click NO and no more driving
Click YES and next is "enter social security number"
The response is "Security check passed" please drive on safely....report will be e-mailed to you
Get home later and check e-mail... 3-page report, local, state and national crime reports, bankruptcies, alimony and child support payments, credit, mortgage and other lines of credit payments....all passed OK.
Note that LYFT does none of this.
Spokeshave who drives for Uber and occasionally for Lyft....over 5,000 rides so far without incident.

I have one friend who drives UBER and HE was not the problem. A set of passengers was.. really big time trouble. like robbed and in hospital. The passengers had used burners and false “everything”.
