At Scout Camp it is customary to play Taps and have all at attention when the flag is lowered at dusk.

I agree, even among civilians the raising and the lowering of the American flag ought to be a season of solemnity, not one of eating a candy bar and filming a commercial. At any rate, I don’t like our flag being used as a mere prop.
