Report: 5-star freshman QB Justin Fields leaving Georgia

Quarterback Justin Fields is reportedly leaving Georgia after just one season. Rumors have swirled in recent days about whether Fields would return to Georgia next fall. And according to USA Today’s Dan Wolken, Fields indeed has informed UGA coaches of his intention to transfer from the program. Fields was Rivals.com’s No. 2 recruit in the 2018 class (behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence) coming out of Kennesaw, Georgia, but never had much of an impact for the Bulldogs with sophomore Jake Fromm entrenched as the starter. Fields saw the field in 12 games, but struggled to find a consistent role with sporadic playing time as the season progressed.

I do not know what happened at UGa when Fields arrived on campus as the #2 recruit right behind Trevor "Sunshine" Lawrence but Kirby Smart showed minimal interest in using him. Fields would come in for a few snaps and it was obvious he would never throw the ball. I do not know if Smart reneged on recruiting promises or Fields was overhyped. Fields might have been better off red shirting or did Smart say he would not do that. A lot of teams could use someone like Fields, for example Oklahoma or THE Ohio State University.

Smart career move. Sitting out a year is unfair. That’s a year of his life he can’t have back. Transfer now. Take part in spring practice. Be ready in September. Too many people and institutions are holding other people back. That’s why Trump won.

UGA lost their other 5 star QB last year as well. He transferred to the UW Huskies. He will have his shot next season.

He should consider Wash. Mike Leach is an offensive genius with the Air Raid offense and great speedy receivers are lining up to go there.

Wazzu lost to the Huskies because the weather was cold and very snowy. This guy could lead the nation in passing next year at Wazzu, just like their QB did this year.

Wazzu offensive line gave up very few sacks and have 2-4 future pros on the offensive line.
