Wow, the restored car looks great.
The VW Beetle has to be one of the most charismatic manmade objects ever.
I have a Pontiac Vibe with 300,000 miles. Who do I call for me free restoration?
It really needs tires bad.
Obama...................
You’ll know my midlife crisis has reached a climax when I go out and buy a restored Karmann Ghia like the one I had in high school.
the roof rack is cool-looking. Someone does need to tell her never actually to use them for anything heavier than a picnic basket.
As I recall, only if you judge by the stupid parts per million standard rather than a parts per mile standard.

I would love to be able to have a Beetle. So easy to maintain, so simple in design, good gas mileage, and no emissions requirements since its considered a classic. My folks had one I got to drive when I was a teenager back in the 70’s. It could go anywhere a 4WD could go on its two wheel rear drive. There used to be a commercial where they demonstrated a Beetle vs a 4WD driving on ice and the Beetle was better at it.
I have personalized plates on my car. Have had the same ones through 3 cars. A little over 21 years now I think.
Same in Florida. My last plate was dented and scratched up from being on three different cars, but was still legible. I used to memorize the plate number, but I don’t even bother anymore. .................
You pay extra for the personalized plates yes?
Great dune buggies but lousy in winter! My squareback had an oil fired heater which broke and was beyond financial viability. I used to drive down the road with an icescraper in my left hand scraping ice off of the windshield when it showed!.
Yes. Not sure how much though. Its not a lot. And our registration fees are so high anyway. Fricken California.
I wont give up my plates Ive had them so long. 40+PIR8
Looks very similar to my 1959 bug I bought in 1968 except the 59 still didn’t have a gas gage. I still have an occasional dream about driving that car in LA traffic.
I’ll try to keep this one short. An elderly lady I knew and a homegrown Tarheel, was married to a German fellow who immigrated to the U.S. after the war. After many years with her husband, she became quite fluent in German albeit with a bit of a Southern twang.
Anyhow, she had been driving Mercedes vehicles (her husband’s vehicle of choice) since getting married many, many years ago. In her early 70s, her husband passed. A year or two later, she began having issues with her latest car (at the time only about 3 years old). She took it to the dealer, they “fixed” it and a few weeks later, she was back again to get it fixed... again. She returned a number of times and each time, the dealership grew more frustrated. I don’t recall what the issue was, but it was legitimate, they just didn’t know how to solve it.
Finally, she had enough and sent a letter to the President/CEO of Mercedes over in Stuttgart. A week or two later, she gets an overseas call and has a long conversation with him in “her” German (as she called it).
Another week passed, and a Mercedes transport truck pulls up in front of her house with a brand new E-Class.
Pretty classy move.
but...but...it’s a Porsche
Cheap advertising is the best advertising.................
I”ll say. I have 157k on my 2013 FRS. I’m looking forward to getting it to 400k but I suspect it will involve a few fairly expensive repairs along the way.
