FOR the first time in the Miss Universe’s 66-year history, there is a transgender contestant in the competition.
Angela Ponce, who is Miss Spain, will be making history as she takes part in the finals of the beauty pageant in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.
The pageant changed one of its longstanding policies in 2012, which stated that participants should be “naturally born” women.
Angela, 27, says that by taking part she hopes to highlight how misunderstood the transgender community is, and she also intends to send a message to Donald Trump.
Angela particularly wants to raise awareness about the high rates of suicide within the community, and said: “Who hasn't suffered from prejudice? Who hasn't had to deal with bullying?”
The timing of her participation is particularly poignant, as a recent leaked White House document said President Trump’s administration is considering blocking transgender people from military service.
The report also said they may push changes to the law to define gender by biological traits at birth.
Angela responded to Trump, who used to own the Miss Universe competition, and said: “I always say: having a vagina didn't transform me into a woman. I am a woman, already before birth, because my identity is here [her head.]”

I bet you could go to any high school in Spain and find a real girl prettier than that thing.
I have traveled in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, UK & Sweden. In my opinion France has the most feminine acting and sounding women. For purely from a physical beauty standpoint, Sweden takes the prize. I should know, I was married to a woman born in Northern Sweden.

I married an American girl. She did not take a back seat to any girl from anywhere.
I worked for many Summers at a retreat which literally had thousands of visitors every week. I got to noticing that the prettiest girls came from an area including South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama on in to Mississippi.
I think those areas were settled by Scottish Highlanders, Scotch Irish, and Irish. The prettiest girl I think I ever saw was from a small town in Southern Illinois. She did have an Irish name.
Ha! Oh wait, we live there. Maybe it's not so funny.
I can’t wait for the Olympics when every winner is a man. Will that finally wake people up?????

Agreed! Southern girls win the prize. But my comment was purely for European girls. Long ago I was on a nightclub tour in Paris, sitting in one of the biggest clubs in Paris named Lido. In the audience near my table was a young French couple and that young woman was so pretty, I missed watching half of the stage show consisting of 200+ women in costumes with nothing covering their breasts.

Pretty pathetic when Spain has a fake woman representing it in international beauty contest .... but on the other hand we have a fake Indian as a senator, a fake Mexican as a wannabe senator and representative, a fake genius who drags he dead son around DC, ....
