Following Kevin Hart’s announcement that he was bowing out of as host of the 2019 Academy Awards, a report on Monday suggested that organizers behind the annual event are considering airing next year’s telecast without a host.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences is exploring all options, sources with knowledge of the situation told Variety.
The show may go sans host, an insider told the outlet, and instead would feature “a bunch of huge celebs, something ‘SNL’ style, and buzzy people to throw to commercial.”

Cuz they can’t find anyone without baggage or skeletons in the closet.
Might as well go without a host since they seem to go without an audience.
Can’t they get some 10-year old kid to just wheel out an Alexa and start the conversation with: “Alexa, who is up for such-and-such award?” Then you ask Alexa who won.
The whole show could be over in 90 minutes....no drama....no fake jokes....no worries about some guy insulting so-and-so.
It means everyone they asked said no!
And why would they when the perpetual offended will dig into that person’s past and find something (anything) to be offended over.
I don’t recall ever watching an Academy Awards show back when I had a TV. I can’t imagine watching people patting themselves on the back about what a good job they did even before each speech became an attack on Republicans. I’d rather go to the dentist.
Not that I give a rip abput this soet of thing but here are a couple of thoughts.
The Oscars appear to be affected by Metoo movement collateral damage. How about picking a female that doesn’t rape of fondle? And why not a thespian instead of a comedian?

I remember my parents watching them back when the family's good (read: ONLY) television set was a black & white portable TV with rabbit ears, and I hated them on an annual basis. Mom and dad weren't much for movies anyway, so it struck me as an odd waste of time, made worse by these narcissistic "big events" being not only boring, but seemingly interminable.
