Two Minnesota cops were placed on paid leave Friday after a photo of a Christmas display with racist ornaments outside a precinct surfaced on social media. The tree, displayed outside the Fourth Precinct of the Minneapolis Police Department, was littered with police tape, an empty can of Steel Reserve malt liquor, a cup from Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, bags of Takis chips and packs of Newport cigarettes, CBS reported. Black Lives Matter Twin Cities posted the photo online last week and it quickly spurred outrage from members of the black community as well as local officials.
These pieces of trash were deliberately chosen to represent how certain officers feel about the community they serve: that black people are a stereotype to be mocked and the lives of those they serve may as well be reduced to trash in the gutter, said City Councilman Phillipe Cunningham.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey vehemently spoke out against the incident.

Putting some of the above mentioned stuff on it sounds a bit dumb, but I don't see how it can be claimed it's racist.
Only a racist would think that was racist.
For someone to see that as racist requires that person to already hold ugly stereotypes in their mind.
Which makes them racist. Not the tree.
Well, I think it’s hilarious, having
embraced my inner racist a long time ago.
The takis would have been on there for about 28 seconds if I was around. They may be racist, but they’re a yummy kind of racist.
Are we taking bets on whoever did this being a “person of color that is not white”?
Did anybody mention a “white Christmas,” too?
The Ramones did radio ads endorsing Steel Reserve beer.
Many black people listened to the Ramones?
Takis makes snacks. Are their chili and lime chips targeted specifically to black consumers?
The cops themselves probably eat them
What, no Skittles?
Now if it was a Qwanza bush...
‘Holiday’ started by a black nationalist
“Are we taking bets on whoever did this being a person of color that is not white?”
It was a white guy. And what happened to him is a massive overreaction.
Yeah, it was racist.
But just not that big of a deal. Certainly not in comparison to the racism these officers suffer regularly.
Stereotypes? Turnabout isn’t fair play anymore? The Metro areas of Minniesoda are in sad shape. Look at what they send to CONgre$$ to represent them.
“Racist” = “Actual documentation for the cr*p cops have to deal with”.
And, since the vast vast VAST majority of this cr*p comes from...you-know-where, this is automatically racist.
When the truth hurts.
Did the tree decorations imply that those arrested were genetically inferior?
If not not, then how are the decorations racist?
Racist? No. Very dumb, and very counter-productive? Oh, yes.
If I saw a police display that made crude fun of my heritage, I wouldn’t get upset. I’m a big boy. But I’d like those cops just a little bit less. And I’d be willing to help them just a little bit less. That’s not a good thing.
So I’m not seeing a firing offense with that tree. But the cops involved need a couple of weeks of unpaid vacation to get their minds right.
We’re all racists now, doncha’ know? We should just all admit it. Make it like one of those great British Comedies. “Good morning racist!’’ “And a very good morning to you, you racist you’’!.
Dave Chappelle said he went into a Southern restaurant that served burgers and fried chicken. The guy behind the counter asked if he wanted fried chicken. Chappelle asked “Why do you assume I want chicken?”
The guy answered “I’m sorry. I just assumed that’s what you want. What can I get for you?”
Chappelle said “Fried chicken”.
Why? Because no honkey ever ate Funyuns or fried chicken?
