A grandmother who was mistakenly booked into Miami jail as man is now she's suing prison workers who forced her to spend nearly 10 hours in a male cell where she was so tormented she wet herself.
Fior Pichardo de Veloz, 55, was booked in the Metro West Detention Center in Miami on November 4, 2013.
Pichardo was an attorney and elected official in the Dominican Republic and came to Miami to witness the birth of her grandchild.
But her plans went awry when she was arrested at the airport for an old drug case she didn't know was outstanding, according to the Miami Herald.
After a strip-search she was classified as a woman, but the jail doctor and nurse wrongly booked her as a man, claiming she was transgender with male genitalia.
They saw her menopause pills and Dr. Fredesvindo Rodriguez-Garcia and nurse Fatu Kamara Harris wrongly thought she was taking hormone tablets because she was transgender.
The decision went against the arresting officer who listed Pichardo as female and against a female officer strip search, where her private areas were examined.

WOW - what a mistake! Glad she’s suing - I’m sure she tried to make it known they were making a big mistake but apparently they knew better. Guess they know better now! Good for her.
Hahahaha... They identified her as a man. That’s what happens when you let people identify themselves as one or the other. Other people, and institutions, can play that game and will. This NEVER happened (or happened with such low probability as to be negligible) in the old days. You were a man or a woman, and it was obvious which. But you wanna play games? Games will be played.

What a nightmare! Poor woman. Suing in this case is justified.
I don't believe for a fraction of a second there was any confusion of any sort.
I suspect that she pulled a “do you know who I am?” and they looked at her rap sheet from years ago and decided to remind her exactly who she was.
But in the intervening decades, she really had cleaned up, become a lawyer, and been elected to office in her own country.
The diplomatic corps won't let this slide, and the screwballs at the jail will need new careers because the blue line can't cover this one.
The Daily Mail uses the word “struthious” in the last paragraph. I looked it up in Dictionary, and it is a real word, evidently, but I still don’t see how it fits.
struthious: “resembling or related to the ostriches or other ratite birds.”

What I AM happy about is the lawsuit. And I am RARELY happy with a lawsuit.

Me and a friend thought we’d go visit a guy in the Miami jail, in the ‘80s. We got to the waiting room, looked in, and said “F*** this. “ If the waiting room is that bad, imagine the inmates.
She's a turd world lawyer, which is one step away from being a turd world judge, and we know where they come down on this stuff. Maybe in the future when she's a judge (if she gets there), she'll be less likely to go along with all this nonsense.
But, OTOH, you are correct, I shouldn't lump her in with "people" she has given us no reason to believe she is in sympathy or agreement with (tho I should FULLY read the article, which I still haven't done), and her picture doesn't make me think she was trying in any way to pass herself off as a man... so I do apologize. It's just when I come to FR, I'm loaded for bear and ready to kick liberal a$$, lol, and I tend to shoot first and ask questions later. Again, sorry.

My wife has had breast cancer twice and they are trying to force menopause.
It is BRUTALLY expensive, and taxing on her several times a month.
I still do not understand the science behind it.
But Sloane is supposed to be one of the best.
She claims the other inmates were men, but perhaps they were all trans.
