Well glad to hear you’ve actually been here, lol. I can’t think of anywhere in Florida that has decent barbecue or even knows what it is, though.

Six months too early for Ramadan.

I’m just funnin’ ya my friend. I’m sure there’s plenty fine open pit chow up there. As for fla., you might be surprised, you just have to know where to go, and with all the yankee tourists coming through, we like to keep the good stuff a secret whenever we can. ;)

Well, it’s been twenty years since I cooked one so you may very well be right. The last thing I need to do is watch or read a Mickey D’s ad.

Id imagine the Cubans could do some interesting things with pit cooked meats if they took a mind to. Love authentic Cuban.

I ate a McRib once. Never again.

The best things about that “sandwich”

4. The pickles and onions.
3. The Bun.
2. The BBQ sauce.
1. That meat-like substance.

I remember them in the 80’s when I was in high school and college. I have a long standing tradition of when they come back of ordering a McRib combo and eating it and I am satisfied for that craving for a year. I get the satisfaction of tasting a familiar taste and at the same time realizing, I don’t want another for a long time. It works...

I had my hit this afternoon for lunch, I’m good for 365 days.

I-767 Wytheville VA to Princeton WV DQ up in the mountains at an off-ramp. Great BBQ samich. Cole slaw and sweet pickles on the side. Banana shake.

Cole slaw often served as a side with Q. Creamy and chewy a counterbalance too the sauce and any spice. Southerners often have bland diet despite some of the spice heads here. Cole slaw balances out a meal.

In fifteen or sixteen years, Ramadan will be at this time of the year.

I am surprised there are not more murders in Garland.

It really seems like a murderous city.

I have distant relatives who live there. They do welfare fraud.

That thing is the nastiest thing I ever ate at McDonalds. I love ribs, these are not ribs.

Indeed. I tried one when they first came out and IMO, it was just their breakfast sausage, pressed into patty with rib-like projections.

I wonder if the guy who promoted chicken wings (crap) into a national craze had a hand in this.

you can get ss and medicare now...if you want

For my age group, any SS I take before age 65 forces my wages down. That is, if I make too much, I have to give back all SS. With a six figure income, that would be a very bad move.

When I turn 66, I will not only be eligible for more SS, but I can earn all I want and don’t have to give any SS back. Since I have no other pensions or 401K’s, that matters. And in my state, which has an income tax, SS is exempt. For me it means an extra $3600 a month, tax free (except for the Fed lower rate for the SS). And because I live in an area where the average rent is around $600 a month for a decent house, that’s a lot.

The goal is to pay off my mortgage and then quit. Oh, and the annual property taxes here are less than one months payment on a camry.

Regarding medicare, I don’t need it. I have the Lord. He has been faithful to heal, twice miraculously so. For many people, health insurance is an idol. God doesn’t really approve of idols.

BTW, that last part comes from my beliefs regarding the long definition of “idol” and why it is sinful to worship them. In a nutshell, if you believe in and on God, you trust him for EVERYTHING.
