NOTE: This thread is posted for the sake of FReepers who might be affected by the bugs described in the article. It's not intended as YAWHT (Yet Another Windows Hate Thread) -- we've had plenty of those already, thanks. :-) That said, I ain't the Thread Police. Have at.

Zero problems with the Windows 10 updates on my HP laptop. But then, what do I know? I’m just a software engineer with 20 years’ experience. :)

I had a phone call with Microsoft last week with my company and they said 1809 has been pulled from further deployments.

Praying for your son, Max. There’s nothing special about me, yet the Lord healed me from an “incurable” disease I had for years. Looking back in hindsight I’m kinda glad I had the disease for a while because it gave me a little bit of sorely needed humility.

Oh, great. I just sent my wife off clear across the country to a big important conference today with that update freshly installed on her brand spanking beautiful new laptop. I can see what’s coming... It ain’t gonna be pretty... *GROAN!* How am I going to fix something I don’t have right in front of me, on a laptop I’m not familiar with, loaded with a buggy new OS version I’m also not familiar with??? BIG D HERE I COME!!! :-(

A couple months ago you could still get new Windows 7 systems from Dell ana HP. They’re in the “business” category.

Windows 10 has been operating very well on my HP laptop, but 1809 was a bust for me. Didn't lose data, but had audio driver failure and some other issues so decided to do the rollback to 1803. They goofed on this release and will wait for a proven update. I do occasionally do an image of my entire hard drive with Macrium, in addition to more frequent drag and drop backups of data, along with critical data kept in cloud. Hardware failures can happen too.
