First Man: must see movie, plenty of US flags too...

Great movie, deeply patriotic. I don't get all the BS on the flag. it is all over the movie, and on the Moon.

Multiple times goosebumps. The Saturn vehicle launch is worth the price of admission alone. Ryan G is awesome. The only false note is Claire foy's part as the wife. I wish she had been more supportive and less of a worrier. But, that aside, a must see Freeper Movie Great window into USA greatness when we have a clear objective.

How did they avoid planting the flag?

Did they omit “we came in peace ...”

So, the part about not showing the actor portraying Neil Armstrong planting the American flag on the Moon is BS?

I keep seeing these stories how ultra-lib shows are so great, including the connors minus Roseanne, and now First Man, minus the US flag on the moon.

One might think hollywood was nervous, having pissed off al least half the audience.

read about month ago they were putting that scene in all they needed was a stunt man in a space suit planting the flag.

So do they show him planting the flag or don’t they? Yes or no?

I have heard several reliable conservatives say the movie was great and lots of American credit and flags. I’ll wait and see.

Why not just wait until it comes out on Redbox? Why give Hollywood your theatre dollars???

If they release a cut with the flag, I might reconsider.

The issue isn’t that they did or didn’t show the flag.

It is that they made a conscious decision not to show the flag when it was most important.

Great Story well told....no doubt was an AMERICAN effort..including the race to beat the Russians. Well done...the Flag issue is misguided

Yeah, no.

Even IF they put the flag scene in the movie - Ryan Gosling and the producers already came out as anti-American and said this was an event for humanity - not America.

Pass. Hard. With prejudice.

they didnt show him “planting” the flag, but the flag is shown “planted” and the movie has United States and Flags all over it. so the whole “not patriotic” thing is total BS.

"It is that they made a conscious decision not to show the flag when it was most important."

Thats total BS. No reasonable person could see the movie and claim it isnt deeply patriotic and full of pride for the USA.

so just stop that crap

I can respect that. It would not be enough for me, but others maybe.

Not total BS. The first thing he did was plant the flag. They omitted it because they thought it would hurt sales outside the USA. Then Gosling opined that he didn’t think Armstrong thought of himself as an American when he landed. No sale.

Either the flag means something to you or it don't. If you choose suport a movie that purposely leaves it out, because they felt that the moon landing was a achievement of humanity (Thier words not mine) not one belonging to the United States of American I quess as wrong as that belief is that your right, but as for me the moon landing belongs to America brought with the the very best that America had to offer in engineering, materials, ideals, dreams and lives.
