Neither do we, Damon. This is going to come to conflict and you guys are going to start it. Be careful what you wish for.
I have suggestions for anyone upset by this circus (especially anyone with a daughter)
* start a program to teach young girls to rip the nuts off any high school attacker (I mean literally make him unable to procreate). Or go with some basic self defence courses that don’t permanently maim the attacker. Or just “real self-confidence” and “real empowerment” - those can do A LOT against a high school attacker - rather than repeating bumper-sticker encouragement slogans and showing videos of Hillary.
* teach girls to shoot. If it’s your daughter, take her to the range. If you don’t have a daughter start a go-fund-me to give free lessons to girls (I’m sure Matt could pay for lots of training).
* get your daughter a CCW and gun when she’s responsible enough. Or help other young women get the training and license. Even without carrying she’ll likely develop some self-confidence and avoid (not just stop) attacks like the one that Ford says ruined her life.
No girl/women/person should go through what Ford claims happened. We can’t change the past (or know it in this case). But there are very real steps than can prevent today’s girls from experiencing it in the future. Is Matt Damon generally concerned about girls/women? Or just out for some cheap PR? We’ll know if he puts money toward preventing future attacks (like I suggested above or any number of other ways).
