Ben Affleck Reveals He Completed 40-Day Rehab Stay: 'I Am Fighting for Myself and My Family'

The actor, 46, posted a lengthy statement on his Instagram Thursday where he reveals he is now continuing outpatient care after wrapping up his stay this week. Affleck also thanks fans and family for the well wishes he has received while in treatment.

Affleck entered rehab on Aug. 22 after his ex-wife Jennifer Garner was seen arriving at his house twice throughout the day before driving the Justice League star to a treatment center, PEOPLE confirmed. He had been staying at the center, with only brief breaks to workout at home and attend business meetings, ever since.

Affleck previously entered rehab in 2001 and, years later, announced he had completed treatment for alcohol addiction in March 2017. A source recently told PEOPLE that Affleck seemed to be taking this trip differently.

“Ben seems to take this rehab visit more seriously,” the insider said. “This time is different. He doesn’t want his kids to have to go through this again. Ben is really trying very hard to get better.”

Some people feel confined in a marriage, with all it’s expectations. While others feel connected and alive all because they found someone good for them.
I wish him luck.

When you’re a former movie star, I suppose it’s near impossible to keep some things private.
Maybe he wants to make a statement, cut through any gossip.

40 days is absolutely nothing when dealing with such a rough addiction. He’s damn lucky to have Jennifer. If he hadn’t had kids with her he probably be dead right now or well on his way

The man has a long haul ahead of him....he’s just getting started. I wish him success as well. Most of all an encounter with God that he would not soon forget.

Hopefully he succeeds.

A Study in Vietnam vets showed that about 95% of addiction is due to a lack of strong social bonds.

Sandra And George And Rules

OCTOBER 4, 2018

[Blind Gossip] When someone is leaving rehab, they are usually given a set of guidelines to help them maintain their newfound sobriety.

Even if you’ve never been to rehab yourself, if you’ve seen the movie 28 Days starring Sandra Bullock, you are familiar with these rules. Some of them include

  1. Don’t drink
  2. Don’t date
  3. Go to meetings.

This actor’s wife has been stalling on finalizing their divorce, hoping against hope that he would take rehab seriously and take the need for sobriety seriously.

Well, our actor is no Sandra Bullock. While her character managed to stay sober after she left rehab, our actor went 0-for-3 on the rules within days of getting out.

His wife is not happy about this.

She is now resigned to the fact that he is never going to get sober. She says he is like Danny Ocean planning his next robbery the first day he gets our of jail in Ocean’s 11. He’s incorrigible.

Interesting analogy… but our actor is no George Clooney, either!

I feel that “addiction” is a by-product of the Hollywood hanger-on lifestyle in this business. If every wealthy actor, singer, performer is “addicted” then they constantly need these rehab stays and “treatment” just like they need agents and business managers. It’s just another ploy to take advantage of people who are good at playing pretend but horrible at every other aspect of life. Why is only roughly 10% of the population at large in 12-step programs but nearly half of Hollywood is? It’s also a community more replete with sex “addicts,” drug addicts and other addictions. Replacing one addiction with an addiction to “treatment” is just another way of taking advantage of these sad sack human beings who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. No matter how talented it all ends the same way... even for talents like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson and downright genius such as Prince.

Decades ago (and maybe before Scientology took hold in Hollywood) I heard that some people (writers, agents, actors...) would go into AA/rehab to get close to some A-list talent and network/get connected.
