Exactly who, but maybe a few for some reason, would ever need 1TB of storage for cell phone? Only so many pictures, video and music to deal with. Now if I were a spy of some kind, yeah I would need that much storage.

On-device storage is a thing of the past. Waste of money.
With cloud storage, which is where Microsoft and Amazon and Google and all other cloud services companies want to take the world, there won’t be a need for on-device storage.
Me, I’ll still keep my important stuff on a PC with huge hard-drives or on off-line storage devices (flash drives, etc).

The cloud is just somebody elses computer.
Storage on your device is also available to "that somebody else's computer". Whatever you do, especially on "smartphones", is being recorded on "somebody else's" computer.
And, btw, what you're doing "right now" and every time you use a computer or smartphone, is being done on somebody else's computer. There's not very much being done locally on a smartphone or on a PC; the off-line computer and off-line services, are basically dead.

Have you ever bought a new car or house or negotiated a business plan??
Ever wonder why it seems the competition has an advantage over you? Maybe because you gave your precious information out to evil opponents with the cloud.
The cloud sells your info to higher bidders.

I can't believe that people are still so naive in today's tech world.
Whatever you do, on-line or on the cloud and on-device, the "services" companies that you or anybody connects to, is recording whatever you do. It's not just the "cloud" services anymore; it's everybody and every company that you come in touch with on the internet.

Perhaps you need to get out more . . . to places where you can't access the cloud. Even with SATCOM, you are not going to pull a HD movie from the cloud. You can read Free Republic though, been there done that!

Yeah, good luck with that.
If anybody wants to remain in contact with civilization, or just with friends or do any kind of business, then, you can't get away from being "cloudy".
People think of the cloud as being the "cloud services and cloud storage", but, even the non-cloud services on the internet, are basically "cloudy", because, they all have computers and services and "recording capabilities". Yahoo, for example, is not a cloud service; FOX news is not a cloud service, and many more are like that, BUT, they do record everything that comes and goes in-and-out of their site. FR too, is rightfully, a cloudy service. What I'm typing right now, is being kept in a "cloud-like" service. It's not just about storage and business services anymore; the cloud is everything that occurs on the internet.

It is smart to split up into multiple computers. Important info stays off line, never connected to the web.
The only web connect is a browser computer.
A game computer has only games, nothing more.

My 10GB IBM hard drive cost $290 in my new 1998 computer. I thought I was a really hot shit when I opted for that larger 10GB hard drive in my new Windows 95 computer. On ebay I bought a home burned Window 98 disc on ebay for $14. So slapped win 98 on my new computer. The guy who sold them was immediately booted off ebay but I still got mine.

I have a $200 phone that will work for several years, a $500 computer that will probably work for 5 or so years and have trouble understanding how a lot of folks will pay such a price for a glorified phone while paying outrageous prices for the ability to access data from anywhere...more power to them.

The only web connect is a browser computer.
Computers, and smartphones, and home assistants and IoT devices, and "intelligent" TVs. No matter what you use or where you turn, you're connected. Online gaming means online connected. Off-line games? Perhaps, but, most gaming is now online. Off-line storage, which is what I use, is even better than on-device storage. Most people and most businesses have most or all of their devices connected to the interned, and while browsers are the most common way to connect online, there are many other ways that people are not aware that they're being watched and recorded.

The sneaker net is 100% offline.
I'll bet that, eventually, the data/info that is "transferred" via "sneaker net", eventually finds its way into the internet.
