My paternal grandfather escaped from the southern Ukraine to the US in 1923. So did my grandmother and her family from the Kiev area.

On my grandfather’s side, everyone except one older brother stayed in/couldn’t get out of Russia. They led a miserable existence - those who survived. My great grandfather, who in the 1920s had 14 homes that he built with his own hands (and those of his sons) taken away, plus the horses and carts necessary for his water delivery business (they had no running water in his city then), was left in 1936 with just his own home, 3/4 of which he rented out to others since his money had been stolen and, at age 73 and suffering from cancer, he and my great grandmother otherwise wouldn’t have been able to have any food on the table. But, of course, that made him a “capitalist” and an “enemy of the people.” So the f’ing NKVD dragged him off to prison, beat him mercilessly and kept him for several months (with a crap diet and no medical care). Then they released him, only to repeat the entire process a few months later. By that time, he was so ill and injured that they released him to die at home. So Stalin’s NKVD effectively murdered my great grandfather for the “crime” of providing a home to 3 other families for a modest payment that was needed to merely survive.

Yes, we ARE going down the same path. Due to my family history, I’ve studied these Leftists POSs for my entire life - and the US Leftists are no different than the Russian or German ones (and the latter murdered over 100 of my distant relatives between 1939 and 1945). EFF them ALL!!!!

BTW, I think that everyone would benefit tremendously by listening to Dan Bongino’s podcast from Friday, discussing what was revealed during the Kavanaugh show trial on Thursday. It is long (about an hour), but if you can only listen to the first 25 minutes or so that would definitely give you the flavor of what he is discussing. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/09/28/bongino-new-rules-war/ No one will regret listening - and everyone should pass it on. [...and, no, I am NOT Dan Bongino, nor a relative, friend or employee of his - I just admire him and particularly this podcast].

Good post! My grandmother was Ukrainian. She left during WWII and did not go back. Her village is the same today as it was in 1940
