The title says safety reasons and the article says security reasons....BIG DIFFERENCE. I have seen two different reports that were rumors or theories that illustrate this.

1)SAFTEY- The telescope is made with Mercury and has contaminated the area....but if that was the case there would be hazmat suited clean up people in the area.

2)SECURITY- The Chinese have hacked into the site and have been using it to spy on a local military base.

Basically, we have been told nothing and all is still speculation.

SUNSPOT, N.M. - The solar observatory located in Sunspot, N.M. that was closed for safety reasons is scheduled to reopen after it was shut down while the FBI investigated the area.

Hey bitt, Gold Star on that bit of sleuthing.

Here's a "bitt" more from another angle.

The Legal Advisor for Kavanaugh’s Accuser Is a Big Time Democratic Donor, Thinks People Who Work...

Guess who the Legal Advisor advised earlier?

Paula Jones

...who despite corroborating evidence, and NOT decades going by, was initially advised to KEEP QUIET.

Funny how that works, right?

Kavanaugh, if grilled in the Senate, ought to LOUDLY answer "It depends on what the meaning of the word, 'is' is. This woman is a plant and a liar. Just like Bill Clinton."

No blue dress, no case.

Besides, isn't it JUST ABOUT SEX?

I saw other references to other observatories, too, but never saw anything on any others (up to 6 reportedly but, again, never saw specifics)

NOW this is out:

https://www.kvia.com/news/new-mexico/breaking-sunspot-solar-observatory-to-reopen-after-fbi-investigation/795918049

BREAKING: Sunspot Solar Observatory to reopen after FBI investigation

According to a release by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), the observatory will reopen Monday after criminal activity was reported at Sacramento Peak.

The release also stated that the investigation involved a suspect who AURA officials believed posed a threat to the safety of staff and residents that live nearby.

AURA has not released the current status of the suspect or any information involving the suspect.

ABC-7 learned the observatory had closed on Sept. 6 and that staff and some residents in the area were forced to evacuate.

According to AURA, they did not release any information about the closure because of the potential of alerting the suspect and impede the law enforcement investigation.

Here’s the complete statement from AURA:

On September 6th the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) made the decision to temporarily vacate the Sunspot Solar Observatory at Sacramento Peak, New Mexico as a precautionary measure while addressing a security issue. The facility closed down in an orderly fashion and is now re-opening. The residents that vacated their homes will be returning to the site, and all employees will return to work this week. AURA has been cooperating with an on-going law enforcement investigation of criminal activity that occurred at Sacramento Peak. During this time, we became concerned that a suspect in the investigation potentially posed a threat to the safety of local staff and residents. For this reason, AURA temporarily vacated the facility and ceased science activities at this location. The decision to vacate was based on the logistical challenges associated with protecting personnel at such a remote location, and the need for expeditious response to the potential threat. AURA determined that moving the small number of on-site staff and residents off the mountain was the most prudent and effective action to ensure their safety. In light of recent developments in the investigation, we have determined there is no risk to staff, and Sunspot Solar Observatory is transitioning back to regular operations as of September 17th. Given the significant amount of publicity the temporary closure has generated, and the consequent expectation of an unusual number of visitors to the site, we are temporarily engaging a security service while the facility returns to a normal working environment. We recognize that the lack of communications while the facility was vacated was concerning and frustrating for some. However, our desire to provide additional information had to be balanced against the risk that, if spread at the time, the news would alert the suspect and impede the law enforcement investigation. That was a risk we could not take.

It was a letdown to find out he ended up in a cemetery in Kalifornia.

From Wiki:

His final residence was in a veterans home in Santa Monica, California. He was there for exactly one month before dying on January 21, 1900. His body was buried in a Los Angeles veterans’ cemetery. However, after a six-month campaign led by 25 seventh-grade students and their teacher, Johnson’s remains were relocated to Cody, Wyoming, in June 1974.

I think Robert Redford had something to do with relocating Liver Eatin’. So that’s one thing good about him.

Read Crow Killer if you can find it.

What G in onion??? Where do they put that???

Linguistically, if I may be so bold: The ‘G’ should actually be a ‘J’ and that makes pronunciation of the word onion sound like ‘onjion’. If one went with the letter ‘G’ it would sound more like some weird antiquated firearm, something like”ungiun.”

Now for a bit of “real” enlightenment; there are more specific linguistic formations in the English language I would like to draw your attention to. There are two mid-western terms, aunt and wash, that apply here.

To understand how to pronounce these words properly there are two pronunciation rules that apply. Not everyone is aware of these rules so let me explain:

The word aunt uses a little known rule of a silent ‘U’. Hence, the way you actually pronounce “aunt” is to phonetically say “ant.” This little known ‘U’ rule is called, “The ‘U’ is seen but is silent” rule.”

Now in the case of the word wash, there is an entirely different structural rule. In this case the word wash has the, “unseen but not silent ‘R’ rule.” Therefore, the correct pronunciation of the word “wash” is to actually verbalize the ‘R’ in front of the ‘sh’ sound. This means that if the ‘R’ rule were not enforced it would be spelled “warsh.”

To make this easy to understand a simple sentence using these words might be useful. Using the proper structure it might go something like, “My Ant wants me to warsh her car for her.”

I hope this is helpful.

The accuser’s lawyer told Paula Jones to SHADDUP...

~~~~~~~~~~~
“But, readers should remember that Katz treated Paula Jones’ accusations of sexual harassment against President Bill Clinton very differently in the 1990s. According to court documents , Jones claimed that then-Arkansas governor Bill Clinton summoned her to his hotel room where she was working as a receptionist. While in the room he “unexpectedly reached over to (her), took her hand, and pulled her toward him, so that their bodies were close to each other.” She backed away, but he pursued, saying, ‘I love the way your hair flows down your back’ and ‘I love your curves. He then “put his hand on her leg, started sliding it toward her pelvic area, and bent down to attempt to kiss her on the neck, all without her consent.’ Jones claimed she said, “What are you doing?” and had to escape to a nearby sofa where she attempted to distract the governor by talking about his wife.
However, when she was sitting on the sofa, Clinton came close to her and “lowered his trousers and underwear, exposed his penis (which was erect) and told (her) to ‘kiss it.’” Jones then attempted to leave but the governor said, “’Well, I don’t want to make you do anything you don’t want to do,’ and then pulled up his pants and said, ‘If you get in trouble for leaving work, have Dave call me immediately and I’ll take care of it.’ She left the room (the door of which was not locked), the governor ‘detained’ her momentarily, ‘looked sternly’ at her, and said, ‘You are smart. Let’s keep this between ourselves,’” according to court documents.
Jones claims she initially kept the incident to herself for fear of workplace retribution since Clinton knew her boss. Katz dismissed Jones’ assertions on March 30th,1998 on CNN’s “Talkback Live” saying that, “Paula Jones’ suit is very, very, very weak. She’s alleged one incident that took place in a hotel room that, by her own testimony, lasted 10 to 12 minutes. She suffered no repercussions in the workplace.”
Likewise, Katz again said on CBS’ Evening News on April 2nd, 1998 that Jones’ allegation could not hold up in court because, “Clearly a one-time incident that took place in 10 to 12 minutes, she was not forced to have sex, she left on her own volition, the courts increasingly are finding that that is not enough to create a sexually hostile work environment claim.”
