If it doesn't matter if he's black or white, why does it matter if he's white? Because for 70+ years Superman has been white. Are you saying people can change their race now? That would be really whack.
If they want a black Superman they would need to introduce him as a completely new character leaving the existing white Superman intact. I suppose they could kill off the white Superman so then there would only be the new black Superman without any of the history of white Superman.
Black Superman could be Bizarro. It would complete the entire opposite thing.
