Yeah, I remember that from the Drew Carey show.
The Chipmunk’s voices are almost as high as Geddy’s!
LOL!
Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues (1956) contains a number of curiosities. For one thing, why is he in prison in Folsom, Calif. for a crime he committed in Reno? And we can assume that this is Reno, Nevada, not Reno, Italy.
For another, the train in question is headed "on down to San Antone," but the only "San Antone" anywhere near Folsom is San Antonio Valley, south of Altamont Pass, which has never had rail service. In any case, Folsom may be on a rail line, but it is not a major one.
Perhaps Johnny Cash wanted to make "Folsom Prison Blues" sound like a real prison song that jumps from prison to prison as inmates who know it get released and then arrested and convicted in different jurisdictions, where they can teach the song to a new set of inmates.
I’m A Telling You
I’m a-telling you, Oh I’m a-telling you
I’m a-telling you, Oh I’m a-telling you
I get up, I go to work
I try real hard to do my job.
But before the day is gone
I find out I done something wrong.
Chorus:
I’m a-telling you, Oh I’m a-telling you
I’m a-telling you, Oh I’m a-telling you
Days are getting longer
And my nights are getting shorter
And my way gets darker
And my work gets harder.
Now when I get home, the wife is mad
The little girl, she’s feeling bad.
Little junior, he’s got the blues
Says he needs a pair of baseball shoes.
Repeat chorus
Now in everything that I do
I’m trying to make one dream come true
And maybe someday, Lord I’ll find
Satisfaction and peace of mind...whoa
Repeat chorus
Now.....hooom hooom fade out
Curtis Mayfield, Jerry Butler
Glad you liked it. Who would have guessed that some lads from Scotland would form one of the greatest funk/soul bands in history.
Not the ones I listen to-they cater to the blue collar world-leaving all the un-PC stuff in that song and all the other ones, including even the profanity-no censorship-not even of Nugent’s stuff, which I like-the song says what the band/group wanted it to say-they didn’t care if some snowflake or soyboy was triggered when they wrote or performed it...
Thanks again, I have all Rush albums through Snakes & Arrows plus S&A Live.
BTW, I was a FM DJ at a pretty good rock station back in the early 70’s when all those early Rush albums were coming out...Rush, Fly By Night, Caress Of Steel and 2112...they got lots of airplay when my show was on!
That is so cool! I bet you have some stories to tell!
There’s a song by the Doors, “Black Polished Chrome” from the “American Prayer” album, which was created after Jim’s death. (Doors music along with tapes of Jim’s poetry). The following is a real short piece about a DJ, going to a homeroom party.

It always brings back memories. Growing up there was a high-school kid that ran a station out of his basement in our Minneapolis suburb. It reached maybe a mile or so? Halloween he would “remote broadcast” from his front lawn and pass out 45’s to us little kids. So funny how a high-school kid could be bigger than life! He ended up in broadcasting.
I remember that well...no longer have that album but still have all the other Doors albums.
The Doors are and always have been in my top five of best groups out there...the soundtrack of my youth.
