There are multiple gyros, accelerometers, a computational unit with drift tables, compensation routines. A feedback system is used to maintain the reference platform level to the surface and oriented north/east/vertical.

An inertial navigation system (gyro based) after initiation holds an absolute vertical reference through feedback torques applied to the azimuth gyro. The platform control unit calculates the drift of vertical alignment based on sensory inputs; and, applies a correction to maintain local vertical upon which other values are referenced.

The only problem with your analysis is that the phenomenon of “rigidity in space” holds in all balanced spinning mechanical gyroscopes in the absence of “compensation routines.”
