An initial inspection of the ceramics found in the tomb allowed it to be dated to the late Minoan period, or 1400 to 1200 BC

Archaeologists in Crete have discovered an intact Minoan-era tomb containing a well-preserved adult skeleton along with funerary vessels.

An initial inspection of the ceramics found in the tomb allowed it to be dated to the late Minoan period, or 1400 to 1200 BC, a statement from the Ministry of Culture noted.

The tomb was discovered during an emergency excavation in an olive grove outside the village of Kentri, in the eastern prefecture of Ierapetra, the statement continued.

A local resident had alerted the local archaeology ephorate to the possible existence of a tomb at the site.

According to DailyMail, the late Minoan grave -- which was inadvertently discovered by a local resident via a vertical channel -- was in an underground cavern sealed with clay and contained an adult's well-preserved skeleton.

The burial was found eight feet (2.5 metres) below the ground and contained funerary possessions such as a cup, a wine-mixing vessel and fifteen amphorae containers.

Maybe it was mine.

That would partly explain why I like reruns of Kojak as opposed to most of what’s on now.

When I took Ancient History in high school back in the 1980s (yes, that might be considered as such nowadays, lol), the teacher (as he had been at that school for about 12 or 13 years by that point) had a collection of classic exam answers he had collected over the years. One howler was “they packed up and moved away” in answer to what possibly happened to ancient Minoan civilization in Crete (explain why it vanished).

Didn’t you get the memo that our idiot academic scientists changed BC/AD.

Was:
BC Before Christ
AD After Christ

All Brand New:
CE Christ Era
BCE Before Christ Era

Three cheers for stupid Professors.

Wrong. BCE means before common events. It’s the leftists attempt to remove Christ from the Date specifier.

Why does an olive grove need an emergency excavation?

Crete is all scenic and stuff, big tourist draw. Maybe the olive grower had sold the plot to a hotel developer.

CAUGHT A BIG FISH

Wrong. BCE means before common events. It’s the leftists attempt to remove Christ from the Date specifier.

I just caught a BIG FISH! Now I am reeling it in.

BCE says what I say it means. BCE means Before Christ Era.

Common Era is an ignorant term. Who defines common? Today our family had a common event called lunch.

Is EVERYTHING before August 2018, BCE? Is yesterday BCE? Common Era is Common to who? Animals, trees, blacks? Who? Professors?

Common Era is NOT an event. Christ IS an event, pivotable to different eras.

Like the metric system, we do not change our life at the stupid Professor's whim. BCE means "Before Christ Era." BC means "Before Christ." Using otherwise is admitting to an archaic, idiotic, broken system brought on by stupid Professors. And it is forevermore encased into ther academic literature.

My guess would be it was an “emergency” because a worker digging a vertical shaft maybe for a well- or a footing for a tower- - discovered the chamber and in order for work to continue an excavation has to be done as soon as possible.
