A Columbus man has to have his arms amputated after being attacked by three pit bulls.
Forty-two-year-old Dudley Willis says he was walking home from the store last week when he was mauled by three pit bulls belonging to one the neighbors on the corner of 38th Street and Earline Avenue.
“He was left laying here in this area, just left laying out here. Nobody called for help or nothing. He was just left laying out here,” says his sister Alycia Willis.
Alycia Willis says he was left there for an hour and twenty-five minutes before being taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital.
“The hospital called us after he had a seven-hour surgery. He has been through six surgeries since Sunday,” says Alycia Willis.
She received another one of those phone calls during the interview with News Leader 9. The doctors told her that both of her brother’s arms will have to be amputated.
“It kind of scares me,” says neighbor Carson Layfield.
Neighbors say the dogs have been a common problem for close to a year now. Some of the kids in the neighborhood say they can’t even walk to their bus stop without fear.
“The dogs chased them up the street and they’re only 10 and 8 years old. They’re scared to death,” says area resident Josh Drysdale.
The family says animal control has taken the dogs and the owner has been arrested. Neighbors say there are other dogs belonging to that same owner that they say are just as dangerous.
“It’s been an ongoing situation. They chased my daughter. She is six years old. If that would have been her, if that would’ve been a child that’s going through what my brother is going through, they would not have survived,” says Alycia Willis.
The family of the victim says they will be taking legal action against the owner of the dogs. They say for now they’re just wishing their loved one a speedy recovery.

Let it be noted that the Korean merchants who defended their stores against looters in S. California riots in 1992 I admire. For those who do not remember, they walked the top of their shops with firearms and no armor or helmets or police backup. For days. Their shops were not burnt down, and few were looted. This ultimately benefited them, their families, their businesses, and the community which was otherwise being looted and burnt. They appeared to be an island of sanity and some safety in the area. Perhaps it is time to post those pictures again.

Ashland dog owner faces jail time after vicious dog attacks
ASHLAND - An Ashland woman could face up to nearly a year in jail after the city law director’s office alleged her two vicious dogs attacked four people, sending all four to the hospital.
Sharon Etzwiler was arraigned in Ashland Municipal Court Friday, pleading guilty to two counts of failure to register a dog and not guilty to two counts of failure to confine a vicious dog.
The charges stem from an Aug. 2 incident in which Etzwiler’s two dogs — both large, male American bulldog-boxer mixes — reportedly attacked two women and two men on Foxmoor Lane in Ashland.
One of the victims was hospitalized for several days due to the severity of her injuries. The other three victims were also taken to the hospital for dog bite injuries, according to an Ashland Police report.
Judge John Good ordered Etzwiler to pay fines of $50 plus court costs for each minor misdemeanor failure to register charge.
Good also set a pretrial date of Sept. 7 for the two remaining charges, which are more serious. Each first-degree misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, if the defendant is convicted.

Etzwiler questioned how she could have failed to confine vicious dogs when the dogs were not ruled as vicious by the dog warden until after the incident.
“The allegation is that they were vicious dogs when you failed to confine them,” Good said in response. “I understand that they were not declared vicious dogs until a week after they were failed to be confine, and that may or may not be a defense in this case. That is an issue here.”
The dogs are being held in the custody of Ashland County Dog Warden Tom Kosht.
If Etzwiler is found guilty of one or both counts of failure to confine a vicious dog, the court could order certain conditions of confinement for the dogs or it could order the dogs be put down.
“Obviously, this is a serious situation for you and the other people involved,” Good told Etzwiler. “People were hurt here, and the court understands that.”
Good agreed to give Etzwiler a few weeks to hire an attorney to represent her in the case.

Boomer, why did the owner have three if these dogs? Could any criminality be involved? And why do I think the owner didn’t get them and/or their sire/s and/or dam/s from a licensed breeder.

Get help. There are hospitals that will admit you on a 3 day psych hold while you’re diagnosed. It can take a while to find you the right combination of meds but it beats living in this fantasy world you now live in. I really should change my view of cynophobic Pit Bull haters to that of the mentally ill needing a lifetime of treatment. I don’t know if your condition can be cured but I have confidence it can be treated.
Why should anyone have to get any dog from a Puppy Mill? They are a big part of the problem with dog overpopulation and why so many wonderful dogs are euthanized every year.
You ask questions about facts not in evidence which is why these stories are always so worthless. They only give one small side of the story and not the most important parts. Why were these dogs allowed to roam free? Why were they so aggressive and feral? The Pittie haters will have you believe they are all like that. Not true. Should the owner be brought up on charges? Maybe but some intent will need to be shown. Did the person who was attacked ever provoke these dogs while walking by the fence where they lived thinking they would never have to worry about being attacked by them?
These stories always leave me with more questions than answers because they are designed to elicit fear and hate; nothing more. They aren’t even news on the national level. Question the posters motives for posting this stuff. I guarantee you it has more to do with her cynophobic mental illness than any altruism she my virtue signal.
