Dog attacks and Cathoics
Vanity | August 17, 2019 | Self

Posted on 08/17/2018 6:46:58 AM PDT by HonorInPa

For the umpteeth morning in a row I fired up FR only to find, again, an abundance of articles about both dog attacks and Catholics. I'm not sure why we have to have so many each day but here's what I know:

Pit Bulls are vicious animals bred over centuries for a single purpose.

Pit Bulls are deeply misunderstood and make great pets unless they're abused by gang members.

Pit Bulls are loyal and friendly... until, randomly, they decide to eat either the new baby or Grandma.

The Pope may, or may not, be Satan's minion.

Some group of bishops somewhere wrote an essay that some other group of bishops refuse to read. Neither group is probably right.

Catholics either have a serious problem with deranged pedophiles in their ranks of priests, or they have a serious problem with deranged pedophiles in their ranks of priests.

There is a lot of interesting news in this huge world. Why do we focus on the same things every day - especially when opinions aren't going to be changed and it just creates "scroll-over" space on the page.

Is there a connection to the near-constant struggle for FR fundraising and the fact that it may be becoming slightly boring and irrelevant because of the predictability of the content?

Do most “Cathoics” have all their “umpteeth”?

There are a number of posters here who have made it their FR mission to demonize pit bulls, and there are a number of posters here who have made it their (honorable) mission to promote/protect Catholicism.

The former does get tiring, and the latter is (very) protected.

What I’d prefer is a “twit filter” feature where you can a) auto-skip articles from certain outlets, like satire, b) auto-skip articles/posts from certain posters, and c) potentially skip articles with certain words in the title.

That would, IMO, fix this problem. As an example, I’m not allowed to contribute to CathCauc threads, so why am I allowed (or forced) to see them?

You might have something there. Like having an ala carte feature that allows you choose (or perhaps un-choose) content based on specific topic or content.

The short version is these people posting these dog-hating articles are obsessed radicalized leftist plants polluting FR on purpose.

The Catholic posts are by obsessed religious people that believe there are more than a handful of people on FR who care about the minutia of the Catholic religion. Most of us can see what they are doing on the front page of most online news outlets. I was raised Catholic but no interest in these articles.

Like you I tend to jump right over anything with the word "Catholic" in the title. I should probably do the same thing with the sick and twisted Pit Bull posts. I disagree with you on how they all are just waiting patiently for that opportunity to eat someone. That's what these Pit Bull haters want you to think and it simply isn't true. Fake News.

Name your pit bull Martin Luther and take him for walks around your local Catholic Church. “Martin Luther is such a good boy, yes he is.”

Hilarity is certain to ensue.

I like that idea about having a filter; kinda like having an “ignore feature”.

The fact is this forum is exactly how it was made and how it will stay. This is one of those rare forums that is not under constant development. Changes are extremely rare.

Well, I'm a catholic who owned a pit-bull. Given that, I guess I qualify to comment on this thread. And I have.

I will say that Talk Radio sufferers from repetitiveness these days. FTM I’m afraid my own responses on FR are themselves getting repetitive.

But FR is our mechanism to vent, and we get withdrawal symptoms whenever FR goes down. Just like Rush said yesterday. He commented that it was just tearing him up that his voice was playing him false and he couldn’t do his show and express his take on events.

I’m guessing democrats are attempting to gin up anger toward blacks and guilt among Catholics... Democrats are threatened that those two groups are trending toward President Trump.

https://www.ncronline.org/blogs/faith-and-justice/pollsters-confused-about-catholic-voters

from link:

Since 1952, Catholics have voted for Democratic presidential candidates at least 10 times and for Republican candidates four times, with three elections too close to call, according to polling data collected by Mark Gray of the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA). See graph below. In almost every case, Catholics voted for the winner or at least the winner of the popular vote, depending on which poll you believe.

Pollsters are also confused about Catholic voters. Did Catholics vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton? Politically, this matters because Catholics make up about 22 percent of eligible voters and usually vote for the winner in presidential elections.

The 2016 media-sponsored exit polls, according to CNN, showed that a majority of Catholics voted for Trump (50 percent to 46 percent for Clinton), which led to much hand ringing by progressive Catholics.
