James Stewart is the most inspirational actor on screen ever, in my opinion.

I would add - either overlooked or ineligible:

The Man from Snowy River: based upon a poem about a real person, as I recall.

Cinderella Man: a true and truly inspirational film.

A Man for All Seasons: A timeless tale of integrity in adversity.

I see the PC clowns dropped “Gone With The Wind” and “Citizen Kane” from the list.

Citizen Kane wasn't very inspirational.

Would you really want to end up like Charles Foster Kane?

____

One problem with the list is that you go through a lot of downer stuff in some movies to come up with the inspirational moment at the end.

Is the net effect positive uplift or just dejection and unhappiness?

In the top ten. Several actors are in more overall. But no one tops Stewart in my opinion.

Brian’s Song was a teevee movie - presumably ineligible.

You may be right. John Wayne did not consider him one, according to what I have read. I do not know, though I have my doubts.

John Wayne is almost always disregarded: a staunch, loud, unashamed conservative who made movies for the masses.

I would consider:

The Quiet Man.
The Searchers.
Red River.

James Stewart is my favorite movie actor. John Wayne is my favorite movie star.

Both superb.

No The Magnificent Seven.

Not even The Seven Samurai!

The hoity-toities don’t like to credit real-folks movies if they can help it. Hence no John Wayne.

The Cowboys is not my favorite, but it is inspirational.

Brian’s Song was released to theaters soon after it was shown on TV because it got such great reviews.

Also “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” Actually Lee Marvin was also pretty great. I loved it when James Stewart popped John Wayne.

Actually, the best films I’ve ever watched were made by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. They have no peer.
