It is said tout Hollywood was aghast....finding out Capra was a solid conservative......and that’s in the days when Hollywood was a two-party town.
My favorite. Lotsa great scenes:
Dan Andrews reliving a nightmare, waking up yelling "Get out! Get out!". as a flaming B-17 goes down.
Harold Russel's upbeat attitude about losing his hands: (roughly) "I'm lucky, some guys don't have elbows and cant use these hooks"
and
Some guy badmouthing the guys that died, grabbing him by the lapels and saying "If I only had hands!". (He received 2 Oscars, a Best Supporting and one for being an inspiration to all returning veterans, and became the first head of the VA.)
Not one John Wayne movie. C’mon. No True Grit.
I think up to that point, Dana Andrews had played the “heavy” role in movies.
His acting was superb, as was Ms. Loy and the rest.
How about The Room, Samurai Cop, Space Mutiny, or Megaforce?
This being Holllywood, it's no surprise they didn't include The Passion of the Christ.
“Victory” is one of my alltime favorites.
Sarc
The only thing “2001” inspired me to do was stay away from hallucinogenic drugs.
It's naaaht on the list, dahling.
And like a true Champion of Replying Without Clicking The LinkTM, I suggest The Passion of the Christ and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
There is nothing inspiring about Schindler’s List. It is positively depressing. It is like calling the sinking of the Titanic inspiring because 30% of the passengers survived and only 70% of the passengers died.
Schindler’s List, The Grapes of Wrath, and Saving Private Ryan are not “inspiring”. “Heaven is For Real” is inspiring. “Invincible” is inspiring. “Moneyball” might be inspiring. Schindler, Grapes, and Ryan are not.
LOL
Victory is one of my alltime favorites.

Thanks for that suggestion. Soccer has become my favorite sport over the past several years because of a boy I mentored who excels at it (previously I could not have cared less about it). I will find a way to watch it.
Capra’s films were useful to the Old Left but the New Left left him cold.
Of course those two should be on.
I love the moral lesson embedded in the film as well as the subject of soccer. It would be a great film to show to youngsters. I watch European soccer now in place of our AntiAmerican football clowns. Was quite happy with France’s victory in the World Cup and hats off to Didier who was great in the 1998 WC win.
Yes! Deserving of all 11 Oscars.
