For me, it was an object lesson in the fact that life will take you down paths you don’t expect! Glad you liked it!

Data only has value if someone is willing to pay for it. This tech is still 20 years out on being safe enough to be fully autonomous.. long before then the data will be worthless.

He’s lying about car sales and is STILL bleeding cash with no plan to fix it other than to find new suckers with deep pockets.

Ed Bolian, 28 hours, 50 minutes.
********
Very impressive but not a “real” Cannonball ,, single car run ,, no “pack” to get the cops all hot and bothered ,, spotters in aircraft and cars pre-running him to scout ahead.

Tesla’s AI chip and six billion miles of instrumented driving data have considerable value for research and development purposes. Indeed, my guess is that they are more valuable if, as you suggest, autonomous driving is going to be harder than is generally assumed.

Trip update:

He flew back to pick up the car and hit the road for the 1000 mile drive home.

Still 500 miles to go, the car broke down again, necessitating another flatbed-haul-of-shame to the nearest Tesla service center, 200 miles away.

At least this time they gave him a loaner (the spying of which in his parking space having prompted my further inquiry).

I can’t wait to get the rest of the story...

One more thing: Any further questioning of my integrity in this thread is equivalent to believing carte blanche that all Amazon & internet “positive reviews” are factual. If so, I have a bridge for sale. https://bridgehunter.com/photos/14/80/148002-L.jpg

Just because I’m relating what “appears” to be a rare bad experience vicariously from a lib who would NEVER post in a forum such as FR - let alone even think about visiting it - is no reason to doubt the facts as reported herein.

Unless you’re moonman62.../s
