TSLA appears to be toast ,, paying subs in cash ,, and had a $5.5M mechanics lien filed against them ... https://imgur.com/a/LKdCzub

WTF else do you want?

...

A story that isn’t hearsay from somebody who isn’t hostile towards Tesla, and someone who doesn’t use WTF.

Wow,If they can knock a bunch more hours off they can outrun a giant motorhome and a Vega!

Travco motorhome, Pal Parker 1972 44:42.00
Chevrolet Vega, Wes Dawn 1972 39:35:00

How many times did the Vega have to stop and fill the oil and add some gasoline?

He’s lucky it didn’t catch on fire.

Teslas have about one tenth the chance of catching fire as a regular car per mile driven:

“They were going to specially configure a Model 3 with enough battery packs to provide AC or heat with an estimated 500 mile range” ... uh yeah, “engineering issues” all right ... that would be A LOT of battery packs!

For the first couple of months my friend’s insurance provided a rental. Then he had to get his own rental. Then Tesla admitted it was taking an unacceptably long time to repair his car and they gave him a loaner. Eight months from the day of the accident he got his car back. This was not a major accident and did not affect the drive train. The delay was due to inability to get repair parts, repair parts that were defective, things like that. A more common car with easily acquired parts would have been turned around in weeks.

It's funny what stays clear in memory. I can almost see your little Italian guy.

Thanks.

You’re welcome...boy, the more I thought about it, that is what struck me. The things I remember today, and...the things I forget. It seems random, but I know it isn’t.

Tesla nevertheless has net value due to its AI chip and six billion miles of instrumented driving stored as proprietary data. In effect, Tesla owners paid to be participants in the development of the autonomous driving technology that will soon remake transportation.

LOL FLASHBACK TIME !!!

Way back I visited My Brother in Little Rock, AR and He’d gotten a new Truck so I was offered the old F-100 for $1.00 & Favors just to make it Legal. He never changed the oil filter, NEVER ! He would drain the old oil out of the pan and the filter and REUSE THE OLD FILTER and put CHEAP new oil back in it.

I drove it back to Austin, TX. I stopped for gas like 3 times and for oil about 7 or 8 times using 23 (Yes Twenty Three) quarts of oil on the trip of about 525 miles. It had a 390/2bbl and Manual Transmission with well over 100k on it. I didn’t even bother with rebuilding the motor. Got a reman short block, redid the heads completely and put a Hurst floor shifter conversation because the column shifter bushings were gone. That took less time to convert vs R&R the bushings.

I put almost another 100k on it.

PING to 32

Self-limiting safety feature....can't stay on the road long enough to get tired.......next step is for electric vehicle manufactures to lobby for safer gasoline fuel cells that don't hold more than 5 gallons....

************
I’d be surprised if that statistic wasn’t skewed by low miles driven ... Tesla’s aren’t real useful cars , people buy them as toys to go around town locally.. they take the Benz when it’s a real journey ... I couldn’t drive one a full day without having to take a recharge break (without a supercharger... 12 hours!) The scary part is that there are no maintenance parts easily available ,, no dealer network ,, a crazy CEO who is bankrupting the company which will leave the cars in orphan status like a DeLorean... and the fact that their power source is more dangerous than gasoline in the event of an accident.

The lack of spares makes insuring them very expensive ,, especially body parts... they aren’t available , the company refuses to “certify” even the best body shops to make repairs ... consequently a small dent can total a car ,, just like the DeLorean with it’s unpainted stainless finish would years ago ,, repaired and painted (to hide the repair) they lost 50%+ of their value.

Reports are that no credit is being extended and all subs are paid in cash... Tesla registration numbers for July are WAY down , under 25% of June numbers ... since sales are by reservation it seems like the cars aren’t being built or delivered in numbers.

“AUTOPILOT” will bk the company if it survives , this is America 2018 , not America 1955 ... lawyers will eat it up... and Tesla isn’t the only company that has been working on the tech,, GM , Goog ,, others .. it’s still as far away as the flying cars and free electricity.

Driving isn’t like flying a plane where you can safely go up into controlled space and avoid VFR traffic .. autopilot works in those conditions ,, on the road you have way too many things going on for it to ever be safe as a “hands free” tool UNLESS all cars have the tech , it becomes mandatory and there is intercommunication between all cars ,, no matter what TSLA warns it will be abused, you’ll have people fixing latte’s , no hands on wheel or eyes on the road.

"A cross country trip in an electric car with a range of about 200 miles if you keep the a/c off..."

,,,and if you expect to, and actually do find, a charging station exactly 200 miles from your last charge.
