Volkoff began wrestling in 1967 and embarked on a career that lasted nearly 40 years. He spent the bulk of his time in the WWF and World Wide Wrestling Federation, Vince McMahon Sr.'s precursor to the WWF. He also spent time with the American Wrestling Association in the 1970s.
Volkoff and The Sheik were one of the premier heel tag teams of the 1980s under the management of Classy Freddie Blassie. The pair won the WWF Tag Team Championship once before breaking up. Volkoff later teamed with Boris Zukhov as part of The Bolsheviks for the remainder of the 1980s before leaving the company in 1990. He briefly returned in 1994 and 1995 as a member of the Million Dollar Corporation before retiring...

Rough day in the world of pro wrestling. Jerry Lawler’s son Brian Christopher also died after being arrested and attempting suicide.
Do you think he “colluded” with President Trump? After all, President Trump was somewhat involved with McMann and the WWE.
There goes another part of my youth. R.I.P.
Yeah. I was just going to post: Mueller to investigate in 3, 2, 1...
“Jerry Lawlers son Brian Christopher also died after being arrested and attempting suicide.”
WHAT?!? I didn’t hear that. What a damn shame.

Yep I remember that guy from the WWF.
Takes me back to the early 1980s.
WWF was built on all the regional circuits across the country. The article does have an error, it says Volkoff teamed with The Sheik. I remember the Sheik coming through Indy once in a while in the 70s, he was mostly a midwest guy who started in the 40s. Volkoff actually teamed with The Iron Sheik, who played an Iranian bad guy. I don’t remember Volkoff being in the midwest.
I remember when I was a kid the neighbors had a TV.. The big night for kids in the hood was watching the likes of Dick The bruiser, Don Eagle, Gorgeous George and the most despised one "The Sheik," the bad guy. :) That was around 1951....???

This music video is a whos-who of 1980s WWF!
prayers up for the Lawler family
It actually started with Georgia Championship Wrestling in the 50 and 60s. Ted Turner bought the rights and made it national, with Rowdy Roddy Piper and the Vince McMahon bought it up and made the WWF.

Wow! The original Sheik. I barely remember.
His act would be considered a hate crime these days. He’d pull out a prayer rug and prostrate.
There’s got to be video.
Should have been:
THEN Vince McMahon
The Iron Shiek was a pot head. He got arrested with Hacksaw Jim Dugan while driving I believe to Atlanti City .
“Classy Freddie Blassie”
Wow, I haven’t heard that name in a while. “The fashion plate of Hollywood.” Called his opponents “pencil-necked geeks”.
