COFFEE RISK

The best book I ever read was about risk 30 years ago.
That means human risk.
The major concern were only the Big Risks, the obvious risks of 5x 10x 50x.

My beloved brother is dead, but I still live.
Drinking alcohol plus cigarette smoking killed him, because that bad risk was a 40x. I am grateful that I read the book.

But coffee was never an “obvious” negative risk.
But if I were to break down the risk.

Coffee - ok or neutral risk
Cream or milk - ok or neutral risk
Added sugar - too much could be a cancer risk

I used to be a heavy coffee drinker.

Then while on a long run(10 mi +)I had breathing difficulty.
Then more of the same and the next day too...

My Doc is an internist/cardiologist, puts me on a treadmill. I planed to smoke the treadmill! I never knew they went on that much of an incline!

After about 30 minutes, all the many screens are blinking ARRHYTHMIA...ARRHYTHMIA...ARRHYTHMIA...

The nurse looks worried, I feel fine. My doc asked if I can continue until the breathing issue occurs.

A few minutes and it happens.

The doc hits the shut down button and before the platform drops to level, he asks “how much coffee do you drink”

He said it was the classic symptoms of excess caffeine and only affects about 15% of over users.

Now only two cups each AM; A-OK.
