She was a fluids engineer too: The slots provided channels for the air to flow through, thus creating more bat velocity.

So, you got style meeting substance, less wind resistance and a stylish set of grill marks on your ass.

I had a very, very good football coach in HS. Coach Heaston. He would carry the ‘Golden Shaft of Discovery’ with him at all times. It was an anodized gold target arrow, which he’d hold by the fletched end.

One way of teaching your offense line to get off the ball in a timely manner was by measuring the number of stripes on your ass as the ball was hiked. If he could land three (by the way, perfectly parallel and distinct) stripes, you were sitting on the bench.

One meant you were a candidate to start. Zero meant you were likely going to be all-league.

I’m telling you, not having corporal punishment in school has been a bad thing. Not a single one of us felt abused. Getting stripes meant he gave a crap about you. Only the very bad players didn’t have stripes, and it meant you hadn’t committed yourself, and didn’t merit coaching.

Guys would walk in the shower looking like some was keeping score on their legs (from top of cheek to just above the achilles). I remember my mom being horrified, and my dad telling her to basically stuff it. “He came back from practice with all his teeth right?”

Remember when men were men and women were just still confused. Today, their just as confused, but more strident about their position on things.

That’s grilling, not BBQing. BBQ is slowly cooked by indirect heat and smoke and often takes hours, depending on the cut of meat.

Yes yes I understand but in the cultural idiom, grilling is bar b qu ing. That is especially true in Yankee land where they can’t tell a hamburger from a brisket.

For the record, I took a vacation to view bluebells and eat BBQ, and visited the top 5 BBQ places in Texas.

At least two had long grills similar to the above but much longer with a fire near one end and a chimney near the other. The intense draft sucked the heat under the meat and out the chimney. The cooked meat was absolutely fantastic.

Just the thought makes me wantto take the long drive back to Texas and do it all over again.

My diet: Only raw sugar cane or coconut mostly or Stevia as sweeteners. Butter, grape seed oil and olive oil as fats. (Some things require shorting, but I don’t do them often and have found coconut oil is a pretty good substitute) Any meats fish and shellfish legumes or nuts for protein. Finish in the produce section.

Rule of thumb, shop around the outside of the store. Avoid the processed stuff. Look at the ingredients if you do buy processed. The more stuff you can’t pronounce the worse it is for you, again, a rule of thumb.

Good story.

I recall a time when I was a JV offensive tackle practicing with the Varsity...on the snap I stumbled forward and with my hands out, one got stepped on my the defensive tackle. Left me with a rather nasty laceration on top of my hand.

I said to the coach, "Coach, I need a bandage for this cut."
He looked at me as if I had 3 heads, grabbed my face mask and pulled me in close. "Just spit on it, rub it up and GET BACK IN THE HUDDLE!"

I have a good Weber gas grill for steaks and kabobs and sate.

For BBQ, I go Bluff City Tennessee (Elizabethton ) to the Ridgewood which is the best BBQ in the world.

I’m a great fan of Eastern NC BBQ and even greater fan of Texas BBQ as eaten at Coopers in Llano or Smitty’s in Lockhart .

But Ridgewood is better than all the other

Yikes! Good thing She didn’t have a Hibachi to turn it into a Branding Spoon.

I’m guessing that the Wooden Spoon might not be so bad after all.

I’m thinking if only You had so NVG back then You might have snagged the last piece 😎

Your Scar-venir reminded Me of back in school one guy was always stealing Tater Tots of of other people’s trays. One Friend put the word out that the next time would not be pleasant for the Tot Thief. Well the Tot Thief went for it and ended up with a fork in the back of his hand. The guy sreamed as he looked at his hand. The fork owner said “I warned you” reached out to hold TT’s hand down and pulled the fork out, took a napkin, wiped off the fork and went back to eating lunch.

That ended the Tot thefts.
